Interesting, but the article gives me severe range anxiety. 40 miles if you ride like it like you're a hyper-miler Prius driver. No thanks. Maybe ok for big city dweller who has a garage. :dunno

LOL, 30 miles of range in "power mode" @ 5hp...

Bicycle specs with motorcycle looks. I don't see the point.

It's cheaper than a lot of brand new motorcycles and it's plated. I just bought a Sur Ron Light Bee and it cost's around $4k this one is $2.5k and it's easy to put a plate on it, everything is DOT approved.

I guess if you will regularly be riding more than say 15 miles it's probably not a good bike for you. Also if your trying to save gas over a Grom the Grom get's like 100 MPG? Still cheaper than a Grom. A Grom has what 10HP? It's probably only a little bit faster than this bike plus you get torque all the time no gears to shift. It's got a reverse mode. I guess it dependent on how you will be riding it. I saw one on CL couple months ago when I was looking for my Sur Ron.

It'd probably easy to throw that into a van I bet, you can lay it down and not have to worry about spilling fuel or oil everywhere.

I've never ridden one before though so I can't comment on it's riding experience =/

Maybe look into a used Zero bike. You can probably find one for around $5k maybe.

Then yeah there's the Sur Ron Light Bee at around $4k. But it's not plated but you can put a Moped plate on it and I found out a Moped plate is really handy you can ride in the bike lane "safely" and cut through traffic =P Or you can ride it like an Ebike and not have to pay insurance for it and stay in the bike lane. Here's the thread I started on the Light Bee if you want to look in to it:

CSC makes some great bikes. They actually don't make it at all they are importing from China. But there are many CSC owners that love them. I've ridden a CSC RX3 and thought it was a great bike they just came out with the RX4 also. In my opinion you're get what you pay for and more. Zhongshen makes a lot of bikes they are legit. They even raced in the Dakar rally.

In defense of Chinese bikes I just bought Sur Ron Light Bee and it's fit/finish/reliability (still have to see how reliable it is) can't be beat. You won't find a 100 pound electric dirtbike for that pricepoint and frame is absolutely beautiful on it and components are great. The parts are way cheaper than a BMW, I just changed the battery and sprockets/chain on my buddies F650GS and the parts are so expensive. That's why I don't have a BMW in my stable.

I'm sure there are people that love lots of different cheap products, hell, people buy Hi-Points.

They are not making products on par with major mfgs at the price points they have, it's impossible, unless the Chinese government is supplementing costs, which isn't unheard of. However, I doubt that's likely in this market.

Also, it is highly unlikely any of CSC's production bikes are what was run in the Dakar. Just like the 500 ECX isn't what Toby Price and Mattias Walkner are running Dakar.

Well that's like comparing a R3 to a R1 the build quality is different if you want to talk about quality. Every brand has their flagship models and entry level bikes. Look at all the other bike brands out there Kawasaki manufactures bikes in Thailand. So does BMW. Would you take a Thai bike over a Chinese bike? Harley's are being made overseas now. It's a global economy just because it's chinese doesn't mean it sucks.

Whatever that means

Manufactured, sure. Chinese designed and engineered and left for them to try and rake in profits by skimping on quality? oh boy is it gonna be shit.

Yes, I would take a Thai made Kawasaki or Honda or a Indian BMW over Chinese made crap. There is a big difference than a quality manufacture producing abroad and cheap Chinese crap. I am in Thailand now riding a Thai made Honda scooter. Looked at the Chinese Legend bikes here, what crap.

Kymco look to be an exception??

Except Yamaha has a reputation and long history of making quality motorcycles. They've had the benefit of making R1s for decades and learning how to distill that info down to entry level bikes via mfg efficiency, metallurgy, etc. And because of that, the R3 is probably a metric fuck ton better in quality than anything CSC makes.

China makes plenty of high quality products, designed and engineered elsewhere. Having spent time in China, riding Chinese motorcycles and Scooters, I'd probably take a Thai mfg'ed Moto. Mainly out of morbid curiosity.
