Cruel boots

So I bought some el-cheapo Joe Rocket Sonic boots, because I was broke (still am!) and couldn't afford anything decent. The fit wasn't perfect, but at least they protected my ankles and calves.

The weekend before last I went on a 2-day ride with a bunch of friends. When I got home, I noticed that the top of the left boot had been chafing me about halfway between my knee and ankle. No biggie, thought I. But since then, even though I haven't worn the boots at all, the wound has been getting worse... and worse... and worse. Now it's infected and I can hardly bear to put weight on my left leg. I went to the doctor today and she put me on antibiotics.

All because of a stupid cheap boot!

The moral of the story is: if your gear binds or pinches even a little bit, don't ignore it. What might seem like minor discomfort while you're on your bike might turn into a major hassle later.

Hmmm - but for a boat, there is certainly the break in period where it may not feel comfortable, and just needs a period to be beaten and molded to your fit type.

Thats the way I felt when I first tried on a helmet and boots - "This stuff is suffocating me, and is so uncomfortable". Now they both fit like a suit. . .I guess. I dunno.
