Have Gear, Will Travel
I'm reading the Creepiest Thing a Boyfriend/Girlfriend Has Done thread on reddit and am :rofl at so many of the stories.
Here's mine...
This was just a first date...
I was 22 and working at a jewelry store the mall. This guy would come into the store every weekend and at least twice during the week to chat. I didn't think much of it as he said he worked at the mall. Mall employees would always try to get discounts from other mall employees, but you had to make the 'connections' first. He asked me out a few times but I thought that, in his mid-late 30s, he was really too old for me.
But he was really funny, good looking and persistent. I eventually agreed to dinner and movie. Typical '80s First Date. He picked me up at the mall after work. I don't remember what movie we saw, but as we were sitting at dinner, talking about various things he drops this...
HIM: "You know, I've been waiting a long time for this date."
ME: Really? [being playful] How long?
HIM: "Almost 20 years now."
ME: ... :wtf!!! Um, 20 years?!
HIM: "Yeah, I used to date your aunt. I remember when you were about three years old. You were so damn cute. I knew if I waited long enough I'd get to kiss you. I've been patient. You know, you really shouldn't have turned me down so many times."
ME: ... [Holy shit!]
That's when I excused myself from the table to go "freshen up" and told him that if he promised not to leave his chair I'd have a really nice surprise for him when I got back.
No, he didn't work at the mall.
Yes, that was the only date.
Yes, I had a friend pick me up and take me back to the mall.
Yes, he'd get the mall every day just before it opened and wait for my car.
Yes, he'd try to get my work schedule from my boss.
Yes, he did date my aunt for a couple months when I was three and she dumped him because he was "kind of creepy."
Thank FSM he didn't know where I lived!
Many years later, going through an old box of family photos, I found a pictures of a family BBQ where he was there with my aunt. I about crapped my pants when I saw it. I threw it out.
Your turn...
