Living about two hours from COTA now and will likely be here in April. I am looking at the tix available including packages and am curious as to your experiences and recommendations for the event.

Thank you in advance!

Not much to say about it, I just did a basic package in t15, it was a good area to watch from. I heard VIP packages were poorly done and not worth it but maybe that's changed.

Got mine already. T15 up high. Great place to watch. They have move packages. Different place each day. That was interesting. Hear T1 is a cool spot.

I honestly have not viewed from all areas. Knee replacement kept me immobile. This year I might do a full circle to check it out. Big ass track!!!

We will have a barf gathering Saturday Night Rob. There are a couple of you guys local (3 I know) and a business gent as well. We have 6 in our group this year. Clutchslip will be there for sure.

Ticketmaster was the deal for tix. Don't think they are even available on BrotoGp.com yet.

Not yet. I usually listen on Saturday mornings when I am the only one at work.

My curiosity is up for sure. Might have to listen Friday now. :teeth

This is what I was looking for. Budman, a barf gathering?!? Now yet another reason to make it happen.

My query is based on the fact that money is super tight and I don't want to miss it.
On one hand I like unrestricted access and want to treat the wife and I to an awesome MotoGP experience.
The other hand is that I wonder if it is really worth $1k-$2k just to do it?
Probably not.
So it seems that multi-turn non VIP would be the best.
Honestly, seeing some of my racer friends is the biggest priority. Now BARF folks as well.

Thanks to those who answered.

Go with whatever is the cheapest package that you can get. You're going to walk around the track a lot anyways. There's a ton of good viewing spots from the lawn areas.

The first year I was a guest of a track sponsor and got to experience the elite package. It was pretty nice with a buffet, and open bar and all but really just wound up watching mostly on the jumbo-tron.

If you sit at turn 1 carry a big hat and some sun block. Those seats just seem brutal to me.

Last year we were at the end of the back straight going into turn 12 sitting up high. You could see 12, 13, 14 & 15 as well as your choice of a couple of jumbo-trons. I would sit there again given the option.

At F1, we sat at the start finish for the start and finish of the race but spent the duration of the race in the turn 19 hospitality suite. This is a pretty cool viewing area as turn 19 is a nice, down-hill constant radius left hander that gives you a nice view of the racers as well as some potentially risky overtaking coming in.

I'm fortunate to have friends that work for and with the venue so I haven't ever had to shell out big $$$. But if I was on a budget but wanted to attend, I would buy the cheap tickets and pay the upcharge for the primo parking or consider a limo rental. The traffic control by Sheriff Bubba and Roscoe sucks every year.

IMO? Main grand stands where the front straight is. You can watch all the activity and there are a bunch of monitors to see every turn.

Half the battle when you go see races live, is sitting where there is a big screen with the live feed showing you every turn. The worst is when you sit at the Corkscrew at Laguna and you have no idea who won or what happened in 10/11 to get to the finish line.

I might go this year. We'll see. Room situation looks to be the issue. Might just fly in Saturday and fly out Sunday.

Good advice. Thanks. Walking can be a big deal for me sometimes. Sometimes not and sometimes quickly after a very short distance.
Another reason I am asking.
Haven't checked the accommodations thing yet. Is that an issue too?
Have a niece that lives in Austin but would rather do our own thing.

Looks like there are plenty of places, just gotta stay away from downtown or the cost gets up there.

I just looked at the dates and that is the weekend of my wife's birthday. Might not be feasible for me to hit Austin. But I am 100% going to Indy this year (to visit family) and may look at a venue abroad, too. We'll see.

yeah, we did the same last year for COTA - the full-tilt Ducat Deal

try to sit in other stands, especially Fri & Sat - different views

duuno if I related this previously, but our COTA weekend seats were at most $150 -
the same spots for F1 were $750 !!

We are so stoked to go but now a bunch of pesky job offers/opportunities are pecking at my psyche.
I am determined to figure this out!
