Cordellia to Perry’s Deli, Sunday, April 14th

Date is set for Sunday, April 14th.

Meet: 9am @ Starbucks, 4490 Central Way #100, Fairfield, CA 94534
KSU: 10am
Lunch: 12pm - 1pm @ Perry's Deli, 21308 Calistoga Rd a, Middletown, CA 95461
Finish: about 3pm or so @ Rockville Gas Station

We meet at Cordelia Starbucks at 9am, and leave the starting point strictly at 10am.We’ll do a gentle run up to Middletown via back roads for lunch then back. This is a Newbie ride. Experienced riders welcome as long as they realize it won’t be the usual Berryessa TT. Would be good to have some corner markers and someone who can run tail end and has a tire kit and tools.

There will be a briefing 15 minutes before we leave, so please do not arrive at the last minute. Leave with a good 15-30 minute buffer, please.

Just ran up there on Sunday and the road was almost perfect. Though we’ve got some rain coming hence, this is penciled in and either it will be the 7th or a dry Sunday after.

Please indicate interest, and if the day works for you, or if you'd prefer Saturday etc. I'm flexible on the day. Date may change due to weather.

Proposed Route:

Notes:
  • Gas up at the station when you arrive in Cordelia. Make sure you leave so you have time to gas up, please don't make the group wait. I will be there at 9:00am because I need about a gallon of black coffee to be human.
  • Make sure your bike is roadworthy. Lubricate your chain, make sure your tires are at the correct pressure, make sure the brake pads are in good condition. If you need help to do these things, ask in the thread, and someone near you may be able to help you out. If you're anywhere near Concord, I'm happy to come a day or so before and check your stuff, or you can bring your bike to me.
  • Please do not show up in street clothes. There will be an award for the best dressed and worst dressed in the group. If you do not have appropriate riding gear, let people know, check the used forum, go check out items in your budget at cyclegear, etc.
  • Please remember - this is a newbie friendly ride, so everyone is expected to ride a pace they are comfortable with, so expect wildly different levels of comfort between individuals. I'll hopefully have enough experienced riders to spot out those of you that need some help and get some advice to you. If someone gives you feedback on your riding, don't take it personally, we just want everyone to have a good time and learn how to ride without pressure.
  • I'm avoiding highway 29 and Angwin. Those of you that know the area will be sad. However, both 29 and Angwin have some extremely challenging turns that can end badly, and 29 especially is high traffic. I don't consider it a good newbie friendly road to take. Angwin is the only place where I've seen newbies crash personally, so we will avoid it, too.
  • If your name is Blake, pee before we leave Cordelia.
  • Pro tip: Before you leave home, try to poop. There are not many classy pooping locations between Cordelia and Middletown.

There will be a briefing 15 minutes before we leave, so please do not arrive at the last minute. Leave with a good 15-30 minute buffer, please.

This sounds awesomely fun

Jackie is required to come so I can make fun of her trying to flat foot my bike :teeth

EDIT: As of 3/22, it looks like I'll be landing in Europe about the same time this ride starts. Spontaneous trip, so I'm not complaining!
1) be safe
2) have fun

Might join to add some more seat time on my new bike, ops depending. Also dependent on if I can get my new tire put on.

Experienced motorcyclist, not experienced in group rides. I would be interested to see how they are. Got a link to your guidelines?

We're in America mate, April 7th is a Sunday ... I can understand your confusion.

But, I'm looking at the forecast, and while it's a fair way in the future, we might need to bump this to the following Sunday, April 14th.

If the weather supports the 7th, I'll probably be there. I've done this same ride, and many alternatives to get from the Fairfield area to Middletown, so many times since the late 90s I've lost count. The years of scooting along Berryessa at Mach 1 are long gone for this aging rider. Love the noob rides. Nice and pleasant, but fast enough to get the heart rate up. Cheers.
