Climate change deniers will need new BS now...

On a brake
Yep, another independent study confirmed previous data - recorded over decades. And who funded this study? Read it and find out. Hint - it's not the usual absurd claim by the wacko right wing that scientists are trying to protect their grant money and get rich - LOL

Here's a nice excerpt:

The big deal is that this was an independent team of researchers who conducted the study (including, interestingly, Saul Perlmutter, who just won the Nobel Prize for co-discovering the acceleration of the expansion of the Universe, and knows a thing or two about data analysis), and whose funding was overwhelmingly donated by the private sector and not from any government. The study was initiated by Berkeley physicist Richard Muller, who was concerned that government researchers weren’t being as open as possible with their methods. He gathered together a team of scientists, and they used data from 39,000 temperature stations around the world, far more than the previous studies. They have put all their data and methodology online for anyone to investigate.

And if you’re wondering who these private groups were, they’re listed on the BEP website. The largest single donor? Why, it’s the Koch brothers, über-conservatives who have pumped millions of dollars into climate change denial. I find that… interesting.

Nor do I think it's something that we necessarily cause or can control.

I mean fuck we could stop all production of everything -- release not a single bit of carbon into the atmosphere and then an earthquake shows up, alters the earths axis a tiny bit and magic, the desert is now wet and hawaii is dry...

I don't give a shit whether the data or its interpretations is valid or not. The very worse possible thing we can do is wipe ourselves out. That may not be a bad thing. Then the cockroaches would take over and life goes on...

So, how do we go now, it's not a "Man Made Global Warming" now but a "Climate Change"? Just shows how full of shit they are.

They already took over. It's called US Congress.

what the enviro evangelicals leave out of the "story" is that while they can, like trial lawyers, argue that the process of analysis is correct, they still do not address that the data collected is shoddy and suspect. "when you have the facts on your side, argue the case. When you don't, argue the Law."

the truth is, "perfect" analysis of GI still gives you GO. Satellites with the capability to measure the height of the ocean with the actual precision necessary to even view the tiny amounts of ocean height were not even flown until a year or two ago. Where does the suspiciously accurate historical "data" come from? Satellites in the 70's that could at best resolve to 1 meter with a margin of error of +/- another .5M? Using temperature data based on interpolation of results from home-grade glass mercury thermometers and temps reported in paper logs because there were no calibrated monitoring stations until a decade ago? (Not to mention having older stations that were built in a field in the late 80s but are now touching parking lots on asphault covered acre lots?

Even then, this still does absolutely nothing to show why or how the governmental control of the very exhaust product of life (and creating a worldwide arbitrary currency) would improve things. You wanna really control temperatures in the future? Stop building. More concrete surface means more absorbed heat. Stop having children, or paying people to have children. And wait for the solar maximum to pass and we can get back to hearing about the Ice Age that's "coming".

Al Gore is just butthurt that he didn't patent the Internet and get in on the residuals. So he's making sure to cash in on Climate Change Panic, which he also invented.

You can't blame Al Gore dude.... he invented the internet.

In fact, we should all thank him.

all I got to say is, there's billions to be made in "research funding" on both sides and neither ever seems to be at a loss for cash. ever notice that?

You realize a few degrees - or + of where we are and lots of things in the food chain die ? Being on top of it all, it is wise to protect your interest.

"deniers"

Only other thing I've heard this word used for was:

1. People who don't believe in magic sky wizards/Jesus
2. People who think the numbers in WW2 don't quite add up

Well because most species are in balance with nature, we seem to affect things on a inpoportionate scale. Well die off alot faster otherwise

No, Al Gore got into the carbon credit trading brokerage racket, then made the world's longest informercial to convince the people that gradual tightening of controls over pollutants wasn't enough. Which it actually is, except you can't get China and India to do jack squat so let's just disadvantage ourselves a little bit more. Anybody old enough has witnessed the effects of our regulation, making cars much, much cleaner than ever and the air cleaner, too. It has worked..but millionaires need to make money, and they got the idea from the rain-forest land swaps of the 70s and 80s.

Our state just passed a cap and tax bill, which puts a dollar commodity value on carbon. This way, polluters can still pollute but purchase offsets. And Al Gore makes a profit when he brokers the deal. Whatta bunch of suckers.

His movie was so blatant about it, too. He proved that he didn't just get mad at losing the election, he is getting rich by conning the well-meaning public into an unneeded and expensive new proxy tax on energy production and consumption.

Sorry for thread drift but I never ranted about this a few days ago, when it took effect in California. And yes, Arnold championed itand Jerry signed it.
