I live in a non gated condo complex. We are having repeated problems with vandalism. Tonight I caught a few kids kicking one of our plastic light globes down the street after obviously violating one of our light fixtures. I confronted them and told them it was in their best interest not to return.

My question regards detaining a vandal if this happens again. The intent would be to get information and pursue legal action against their guardian and have the police arrest them for vandalism and tresspassing. What sort of legal peril do I subject myself to by nabbing one of these f--kers?

You can place anyone at any time under citizen arrest. The consequence may not be what you hoped. In this case I suggest you try getting a video, as if you place them under citizen arrest (( meaning detain them while summoning a LEO to cite them ( LEO's have to cite them if you ask, and YOU have to sign the citizen arrest complaint)) then you have placed yourself in line of a lawsuit for false arrest. So if YOU have two witnesses you should be ok. But if there are TWO of them and one of you, don't be disappointed when their parents sue YOU AND the condo association because YOU attacked their children, detained them illegally, molested one of them and forced the other to take drugs, as they will both swear.

Beat them with no warning... Hard...

What ever you do don't hit them in the head with anything that will draw blood,break their clavicle,smash any joint you can get at.

Stomping on hands/wrists or knees/ankles , ribs(from the side) clavicles, dislocating arms is good too(if you happen to break it all the better)...

disclaimer: I've yet to do anything like that personally, but watching somebody else do it is priceless...


Actually it was somewhat distasteful, I "personally" wouldn't have hurt the dude so bad; but he did throw the first punch....:thumbup

This is the point where taggers just get shot on sight, then while they are laying there, you grab their can of spray paint and use it to clean out the exit wound.
