Chicken Strips

So what say you guys and gals of BARF, how much do you judge a rider by the size of their tire chicken strips?

about 80 or 90%

most riders that I know who do NOT have chicken strips, are also good riders (good lines, dont do stupid shit, or at least not often).

every single rider that i know that has chicken strips - IMO, still has a lot to learn. riding a bike with chicken strips is like driving a car, but refusing to turn the wheel more than 90 degrees off of center..... simply not operating the vehicle properly, and hence those riders are very limited with how they control the bike.

another stellar observation...generalize much?

Riddle me this.

I mostly agree with his generalization. Every rider I know of who doesn't have chicken strips and/or is limited in reducing them due to the profile of the tire is what I consider skilled, safe, and competent.

Every rider I know who has them is under-experienced and I prefer to have them ride in front of me :teeth

Ahahahahahaahahahahahaaha
:laughing ahaha for those who look only at the chicken strips...i look for wear marks at the edges.....HA! better way to see how low you can go...

i even did the sharpie test...mark the edges of your tire with a sharpie, ride out, see how much you scrubbed off :teeth

Ailiaw

3 bikes a week.
I go to the local track at the end of the day, scope out the A Pace riders and buy their used tires off of them, tie them to the rear seat of my bike and ride around town.

Oh yeah!

ahhh on those rare occasions, someone will quote Lester, and I will be reminded, and reassured of why he is on my ignore list :laughing

I see an earning potential here.

Rookie Ryder needs to get rid of chicken strips but lacks skill, ballz to do so.

Hero ryder takes rookie ryder's bike out ( for a fee of course) and returns it sans chicken strips.

Rookie ryder now can pose at location of his choosing as swarms of young nymphets admire his bike and tires, each wondering how they might lure him to their beds, after all he is a macho, manly ryder with no chicken strips.

Hero Ryder simply counts his green, smiles, and waits for next rookie to call.

I'm always worried someone will notice my chicken strips. I'm a vegetarian and I'm not supposed to have them...

I stopped worrying about chickenstrips around the same time I realized that all the uber talented riders on the edge of their tire were leaving the mountains in helicopters far more frequently than guys out for a smell the flowers kind of ride.

Skill, lol. No one will ever pay you a dime to ride. Keep searching for the podium out there.

Thats how you stick it!
I have a chicken strip. Not even enough for a snack. :|

Here in Phoenix, there doesn't seem to be such a thing as right turns. Every right turn has a stoplight and/or a drainage ditch in it. So, I haven't ever gottent he thing over on the right side.

I see your arizona right turn chicken strip and raise you a sunny california right turn popcorn chicken strip. :laughing

to make things easier i think we should all just ride with our cocks sticking out of our leathers.

I think I will buy one just for this purpose. Maybe a purple one because it will look good no matter which of my bikes I ride. One must be color coordinated ya know.

no, not usually.

however, even a 7337 (read: Elite :rofl ) rider who commutes shouldnt have chicken strips. everyone has their favorite on and off ramps that you can rail thru. plus there is always weekends to get a bit more lean.

back in 2000, i rode a bike full time for 2 years, commuting and all, and the only reason my tyres had some thin chicken strips was because i didnt have the skill and confidence required to fully get rid of them. hence supporting my original point.

no chicken strips on my shit now, and a set of tyres generally last me 1500 miles before i consider them 'done', and another 500 miles until they are outright BALD; but hey, i've been riding sportbikes for over 10 years and have over 50,000 miles. learning to lean hard as well as gas/brake while you are down there is a skill which takes lots of time and practice. i do not claim to be a pro right out of the box, nor as i type this!

:laughing i have chicken strips but its mostly all due to commuting :p

i laugh when some new rider talks to me like theyve been riding for years...until they ask me how long ive ridden...:teeth

Me too! They always seem to back off after I tell them over 30 years.

I dunno... I got rid of my chicken strips at my first track day yesterday, and I definitely can't ride for shit. :nerd

Stupidity gets rid of chicken strips as quickly as good technique :party

^^^^ thats why i said "most" :)

oh yea, and btw, if you ask me, the absence of chicken strips as a result of a track day - don't count.
true rough rydas (sorry couldnt resist) can get rid of their chicken strip on the street 'yo <----- "yo" thrown in for good measure and added cultural value :banana

if you go to the track and you still got chicken strips after that, well, well.... well i guess.... (be nice, be nice....), well then i guess you're still learning :angel

Toe

Used to be cool...
I wont give a shit till some gorgeous hot female comes up to me and ask me why I have chicken strips.

Im not worried about impressing a bunch of fucking guys in leather outfits. Ill check the fuck out on you though :hand
