I guess the Handy Stands went out of production years ago. :afm199

What's the current hotness in cheap stands?

I got a Venom rear stand. It was less than $40 from what I remember. It does the job. Doesn't look like it will fall apart any time soon.

I wasn't happy with the Harbor Freight stand. I tried the "low profile rear motorcycle spool stand" a few years ago. The welds were poorly done, the aluminum was too thin, and the entire rig didn't square up... as in the main arm wasn't flat, and the handle was welded on crooked! It's also wobbly due to its very poor design at the joints.

Why would you trust your nice bike to a cheap imported rear stand? :confused

Pitbull or bust.

Cycle Gear has a rear stand for $49. I use it on my ZX14 and it works fine. My Pit Bull wasn't wide enough to use.

This, absolutely. Amortize the cost of a real stand over the life of a bike, and the ease of using the right tool instead of something hinkey, and it doesn't make sense to get the cheap stand. Pitbulls are worth the cost and then some. We have a few Pitbull front and rear stands, and they've stayed with us while many bikes have passed through our garage. :)

I tried he cheap cycle gear trackside branded one. First time I lifted the zx6 the middle of the wheel on the stand pulled away from the stand. Almost dropped the bike. Spend 80 bucks on a used woodcraft or PitBull if moneys tight. Itl cost you more than a stand when the cheap stand fails...

Yep. Tried a cheap stand before... it worked well enough for my CBR250R but in the end, I went with a Pitbull stand when I got the Street Triple. The build quality just isn't there.

My first stands were Venom stands because other people spoke highly of them, but the hook on the rear stand ended up bending and it dropped my bike. Immediately replaced them with Pit Bull stands. The difference in construction is very obvious and I won't take my chances with a cheap stand again.

I've had my Pit Bull stands (rear, front forklift & front under-lower triple) for years. The rear stand is the oldest...I've had that thing since 1999. :thumbup

Harbor freight is the best cheap one I have found, comes out to about 20 bucks and I have used one for a while with no problems. Those 2 part stands that bolt together are crap. I had a set, ended up welding them together to make them bearable now.

One little tip over can cost you much more than you will save. Try to get the best equipment you can. Buy used if you need to. I bought a copy of the Bursig stand with my new bike and cost less than what front/rear stands would have. My bike goes onto the stand as soon as I get home. The one downside is that working on the left side of the bike can be challenging, but I love it so far. There are 2 or 3 different copies out there. If they make one that fits your bike. You my want to look into one.
