CBR 600rr idle stuck

Almost done mending!
I have a 04 CBR 600rr and the idle is stuck at 2500rpm and goes all the way up to 3500rpm in traffic (super weird). the idle adjuster is stuck so i took apart the bike down to the throttle and sprayed the screw with wd40 and got nothing :rolleyes any suggestions on what's wrong and how to fix it?

WD 40 isn't all that great about dissolving rust and freeing parts, but i kinda doubt that your idle adjuster would be to blame. It's kinda new for having a crusty idle adjuster...

Is the bike throwing any codes? It'll be in the form of a blink sequence by one of the lights on your instrument panel - i think it'd be with your FI light.

Is the bike having any other probs?

On a fuel injected engine any air leak will be matched with more fuel hence the
high idle even though the throttle idle set screw is backed all the way off...
check for split boots or stuck open idle adjuster...

WTF LOL

Wrong. :rolleyes

Got pics? Are you sure the adjuster screw is turned all the way in and stuck? When/who did that?-they dont turn themselves in. If so, keep working on it with your WD-40 and a screwdriver or small, toothed pliers.

this is as far as i got and i couldn't take a pic of the screw it was too crammed in. i bought the bike with the idle high like that thinking it would a easy fix :facepalm i tried turning it with needle nose pliers and it didn't budge. its STUCK.

It's possible because with an fuel injection system any air that gets
past the throttle bodies whether through the start system or whether through
an unwanted leak the system just adds the corresponding fuel... the result is
high uncontrollable idle... to eliminate unwanted leaks make sure all the rubber
hoses are connected and in good shape... make sure all the intake boots are
tight and in good shape... check the engine start valves are seating against
their stops and not hung part way open...

I've had this problem before... on my 04...

It's a pain in the butt to get too...

Does the idle not change at all?? can you turn the idle stick left or right? or is it stuck good?

Wrong again. :laughing

OP Sounds like your gonna need some tools and a little experience/mechanical enginuity. Get the T-bodies off and turn them over for better access.

::Sounds like your focusing on the wrong place::

ok, following the idle stick under the air box. you'll notice the idle stick is on the left, but it turns like a screw on the right side.

Pull back the rubber sheet bellow the air box and look UNDER the 4th "throttle hole". The idle stick should be pushing on a flat, metal, coin shaped piece at 90 degrees.

The "lefty loosy, righty tighty" rule applys. And you tightened it too much it sounds like...

Now first try twisting the idle stick left. Turn it too much and the idle stick will come loose and fall out.

high idle

our hondas bike used what is called a MAP sensor. Any vaccuum leaks will result in a high idle. Inspect all hoses and connections. Norm idle should be around 1200-1400rpm.
