Carpet or Laminate deals/source?

Hi All,

Looking for about 1500sqft of carpet or laminate. I can install the laminate. Carpet I'd probably need installed.

It's going into the place we're going to rent once I put my townhouse up for rent and move out.

The carpet in the place we're moving to is kind of bad AND owner said we can change it. I figure to change it now cuz with my dogs and cats, I'd probably lose some of the security deposit when we move out in a few years. Owner may split it too.

Anyone have a source on some carpet or laminate? Not trying to spend a lot.

I just bought 23 laminate steps from Home Depot for $50 each finished.

Once I install those I'll be joining you on the flooring for the rest.

I don't have any sources, but have you consider vinyl? The modern vinyl planks are really good, we have them in our house. Great since the cats enjoy returning their dinners on a regular basis around the house. Really durable stuff.

Might be more pricey though.

We used Just Remnants in Santa Rosa to replace the carpet in our condo before we sold it.

I'm sure there are similar places closer to you. You are kind of limited to what stock they have on hand at the time. They also install baseboards too. They were about 50% less than using a place like Carpet One and the like.

Whatever that means
lmk if you find something. I need flooring options for most of my place. we have some original hardwood that need repair and resurfacing but also need some tile for kitchen and probably going with laminate for downstairs.

Somewhat interested. I have about 650 sq ft I want to tear carpet out and replace with some kind of hardwood or laminate.

Called San Rafeal locations. For about 1500sqft he said it would be about $8k installed. Much more than I want to fork out for something I'll be 5 years max. Issue with carpet is the install and pad add to the cost.

If laminate or better the waterproof vinyl is $1.50/sqft thats it. With laminate you'll ned underlayment which is often around 0.30/sqft. Waterproof vinyl typicaly has pad attached.

Think best route for carpet bedrooms and laminate the main rooms. Eliminates finding a deal on 1500/sqft of same material AND installing bedroom carpet is pretty simple with pieces that small.

Fair enough. You should call a standard carpet place just to see what they would charge.

In any case, LVP and carpet with 5 lbs padding should be sufficient.

I got Home Depot to install carpet in a bunch of random small spaces + stairs and it was like $1300 installed for a high-grade underlayment and pretty good carpet.
