California - where would you live to ride?

Suppose you could work anywhere in this state; Great roads, offroad trails, scenery, outdoors, and a relaxed vibe.
Where would that be?

On the border near Lake Tahoe. Otherwise....Hollister, I've always loved that little valley there. Crescent City.

I'm pretty happy where I am southbay I'm surrounded by mountains so if I wanna go rip around the twisties I don't have to go far. Not much dirt riding out here but we have 3 off road motorcycle parks not too far away.

I used to drill up in Stockton when I was in the National Guard and I would ride up to drill sometimes. It sucked to ride out there because it was all flat. I guess until you start heading toward Yosemite.

I have thought about moving to Las Vegas because there is lots of desert riding out there.

I thought were a mind reader as I was going to post "where's the best place in the bay area to live for motorclists based on what's accessible to you (roads, scenery, dealer networks, retail stores)"

I'd continue to live in SF or live in Santa Barbara. I like squirreling around in traffic and those remote getaways are far enough to disconnect but close enough to be accessible.

If it were just for scenery, probably right in Yosemite.

NoTraffic, that is pretty funny. Same question on a different scale, I suppose!
You looking to move?

Would people mind responding a little more specifically?
Dirt vs Street vs Scenery vs Climate vs... ???

Thanks!

Foothills. Awesome during the off touristy season, not too far from the Bay and the ocean. Though, the Trump lawn signs scare me.

I am pretty happy near the bottom of Pagemill.

Of course if I was even closer I would be rich. :teeth

If riding is top priority and ability to have a job not important, I would pick Downieville first and Oakhurst second. Both of those have great paved roads nearby and great dirt roads and trails nearby as well.

And if dirt riding is more important, I would move to Idaho. :cool

Can I get rid 17 million people first? If yes then back in LA area. If not I"m happy Here in the foothills.

Here here though I would get rid of a lot more than that. Personally I plan to leave when I retire. The riding is great but the population just keeps making it worse. I expect when I retire I will be looking for a major change.

Anywhere in Sonoma County

Agree. Good climate for riding all year and low population density. Remote valleys, redwood forests, rivers, lakes and the ocean for destinations. The number and variety of roads in Sonoma, Napa, Lake and Mendocino counties is arguably the best in California. Also, affords regular access to Humboldt County and all the fantastic riding up there.

Probably somewhere in the Sierras. Maybe around Nevada City, so I can still get to Thunderhill. Kernville could be pretty good too.
I just finished looking all over the Sierras for good roads (link in signature), and there are a ton, on and off road. There are logging roads for days, and not much traffic, even on the major roads in the mountains. Not to mention, there are a bunch of cool little towns.

If not the Sierras, then Hayfork. Northwest of Red Bluff is some great stuff!

Anywhere near the sign in my avatar. Presently, split time between SF Peninsula and the mythical State of Jefferson.

A loop of 36 out to coast and return via 299 along the Trinity River is as good as it gets.
