Calaveres Road Condition

What's the road like after all the construction? The dam web site says the road's open but what shape is it in for us?

Last Friday evening the road surface seemed dustier than the Friday before that, but the road itself is not damaged by the construction traffic, if that's what you're asking.

Last time I drove through about a month or two back, South to North, the southern end was about the same as it's been since I started driving through there. Near the construction where the trucks ran through it was a little dusty and some gravel here and there.

I frequent Calaveras and is open all the way through during the weekends.

The Alameda / Fremont side is relatively clean considering the construction activity going on during the week. if anything, some very light dusting making the roadway appear to be dirty. Additionally, I have noticed there are a couple of turns on the N bound, down hill side that have some un-even pavement (dipping). Just treat every blind turn as if there is the possibility of dirt on the roadway and you'll be okay. Have fun! :ride

...with a Ford F-350 hauling a huge horse trailer coming the other way at the worst possible spot...

Just watch out on those blind turns. I have encountered a Hummer coming around one one day. I had like 2ft to squeeze through. No clue what his fat ass was doing up there other then being a rolling wall.
