Calaveras Rd reopening pushed to 2019

The Closure of Calaveras Road to through traffic between Milpitas and Sunol has been extended from November 2, 2018 to December 31, 2018.

The road will reopen to all traffic, weekdays, weekends, and holidays starting Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

This just sucks on many levels. Its been 2+ years now. WTF are they doing there? I think its the dam building thats the real reason.

Calaveras and Palomeras are my backyard proving grounds whenever I want to get a short ride done!

Fwiw, the Casa Bella event center in Sunol now has a coffee shop with decent espresso, pastries, bathrooms afm199), and a couple of outdoor seats. It makes connecting Redwood - Palomares - Calaveras more appealing for those with limited bladder capacity or caffeine withdrawal range.

The less people that know about it the better. Just before closure, it had been increasingly congested with commuters heading northbound.

They were regulars and were happy to wave me ahead to pass; however, still clogged up the fun stuff.

I guess beggars can’t be choosers...
