Thanks for the post. Would you reconsider your bike choice after using your 640 on this ride? A smaller bike maybe?

Adverse Selection

Pretty soon there was thunder off in the distance and just as we hit the muddy section of road little snowballs started falling from the sky. I'm hesitant to call it hail, and it wasn't raining. These balls of ice were about .5 to 1 cm in diameter and soft, so that when they hit they broke up.

haha...if you had seen the bike he used to so shite like this on, you'd have thought the 640ADV was like a pro Supercross bike in comparison... :laughing

I think that the 640A is about perfect for the ride. It's huge tank make worrying about gas kinda insignificant. Also, there's factory and aftermarket accessories for it that make setting it up for luggage a "bolt on" ordeal. Some people don't like the hard bags but after the pounding they took on my get-off, I'm a believer... The sub frame is pretty light as big bikes go, and Luke's home job rack put a bit too much leverage on his, and started a nice bend. I suspect that smaller bikes would not be up for carrying such a load. There were a few spots where a smaller bike would have been nice, but not so many that I'd want to give up the advantages of this one.

The 640 Adventure is a keeper.

Boney, Long time no see. I guess while my dual sport was collectin dust yours was makin it.

The bike swap must have made it a dream for a trip like this.

I will try to lurk ADV more often and maybe get in shape for your next one.

Until then keep riding them and writing about it for those who don't have a leather pouch like you.

PS:I have 250 hours of paid time off that is just beggin to be burned. And incase you dont remember me I did your Mendo forest ride last year.

I remember well. Luke and I may have something up our sleeves for early fall. Something in the Sierras...

Until then it's all day rides for me. I've already got 2 full months of vacation under my belt this year. Time to buckle down and earn some money.
