"i wanna go fast"
I though i was in for a world of trouble this morning when i went to the DMV to register a 1986 CR250 i bought with just a hand written Bill of Sale on plain graph! paper, and a Bill to the PO to renew the expired registration. The lady at the front desk didnt even know what service/ticket to give me and told me i had to jump through high hoops on fire with hungry crocodiles underneath and.. ok you get the idea. I sat down like f* i'm gonna have to give this bike back :mad

Well, thankfully there was a record of ownership/title something in the system and THAT + Bill of Sale was all that was needed :wtf The expired registration bill was extra. So was the picture (printed) i had of both of our driver's licenses over the late registration Bill to show his name address VIN etc to demonstrate some consistency to the bill of sale - which "reflected" the selling price. That was so easy i felt compelled to share my experience, but it did cost $124 and that's with just $25 worth of back fees.

2yr Green sticker :thumbup

For reference, actual cost break down:
CURR CHP $8
CURR OHV FEE $33
CUTT OHV SER $7
CURR OHV LIC $4 -> up to here $52 green sticker
OHV TRANSFER $19
USE TAX $11
OHV DUP O/C $19 -> apparently a title is extra.. but now i'll have one.
OHV PEN $17
OHVS PEN $4
OHVL PEN $2 -> the latter 3 are late penalties / backfees
---------------------
$124

jaja i would on the way home if the pot wasn't so small : p

guess others havent been as lucky. When all else fails, charm the dmv lady that doesnt speak english. that her accent is soothing, her specs suit her face and that she has beautiful eyes even though they seem closed. Next thing you know you have a green sticker in your hand!

To add. If you buy a motorcycle from out of state and that state does not require a title for ohv you can title here in CA with just a bill of sale. The dmv simply needs to look in their "book" and if that state does not require title ownership can be transferred without a title or MSO. Nevada is a non title state.
