budget bike, $2600.00 z1000

so i got this bike almost ready. total cost now with a few more parts has gone up to 2830.00. its already registered and titled as well (clean title yahoooo!). needs a gauge set which should arrive. That was 100.00 itself. almost ready for a long ride. my friend from aftershocks came by 2 nights ago and set the suspension up for my weight. we learned that the oem suspension for this bike is ghetto. soon i will be transplanting a zx636 rear shock / braced swingarm and fron forks onto this bike. those are in the mail as well. lucky lots of people are crashing, i can find the parts i need almost anywhere..damn i am cheap. don't mind the anchovies hanging there by the front end of the bike.

looks good. wats so ghetto bout those forks though?? and im guessing the shock isnt fully adjustable... good luck w/ the transplants

Very cool, who makes that headlight setup? Very cool I need one. I am doing the same to my Bandit until I get the stock plastics. But I am liking the naked look, might just leave it, with that light the Bandit would look much better.

the suspension does not allow for full adjustability. one can change to gold valves and stay with stock oem forks or just go ahead and swap to zx636 parts. i chose the latter since its relatively cheap to do so. most parts off a 636 will bolt right up or just require a little work to make it work.

man, i wanted a bandit soooo bad and was looking for one before i came upon the z1000 . there was a crashed one in bakersfield for 1500 but the owners were so flaky about it. just had front end damage from what they said. i was sad when that all fell through.

the headlight is from ebay, there are none on ebay right now but here is their site:

it was 58.00 and just in my price range!

the two lights, when the highbeams are on, they are both on, otherwise its just one light. also, i made some longer plates to push it out a bit so it does not rest flat on the fork tubes. i have some wiring and junk to hide so i needed more room. the gauge set will sit behind the top of the fairing. i added two led turn signels from cycle gear. they were like 15.00 a pair, not bad.

animal eyes, those are not OEM but worth all 69 cents paid for at JoAnn Fabric Shop, you can also see the LED's i put on yesterday.

i think i will look for a 02-03 zx9 header and exhaust to put on. i want to do away with the "4" bazooka tubes on the back of this thing. man, i took one side off two days ago and i swear that damn thing weighs 35 lbs alone! also, all 4 of those pipes have catalysts in them so the exhaust is pretty restricted. maybe a plain jane zx9 system will be nicer, less weight and on one side only. i think i'll have to modify the bend in the header a bit near the engine bottom but should be not too bad.

i know someone who might have a stock zx9 exhaust that they would def want to get rid, if he still had it.......
