In addition to the MotoGP season kicking off today, the British Superbikes were back on track as well. I'm downloading the races right now, so I don't know how things went down yet, but anyone wanna chat about it? I think the series has some of the best racing out there.

Love BSB. The tracks are great and the depth of field is better than ever. I've watched both super bike races and supersport so far. It's a great start to the season.

I watch it, but I don't think there's enough of an audience around here on BARF to host race threads, or I would have done it a long time ago.

Yes, Byrne and Lowes are two guys I expected to be at the top. And yes, after race 2 I think it's clear Ellison will be right there with them as the season goes on.

Any guesses who the 6 Showdown riders will be? I think it'll be Byrne, Lowes, Ellison, Brookes, Kirkham, & Kiyonari. Just like it is now.

In all honesty I don't much care for it either. You work all season to build up a lead, and then it gets wiped away. I know why they do it: to make the last races relevant. Otherwise they could have what happens in MotoGP and WSBK and even AMA Pro, where someone wins the championship 2-3 races before the season is over. 2 years ago, it came down to 1/1000th of a second on the last lap of the last race for the title to be decided. It created some great drama, but at the same time if John Hopkins had won the championship, it would have been a travesty because Tommy Hill was CLEARLY the best racer that season.

Each way of doing things has it's own shortcomings. But in the end I think the way everyone else does it is probably the better way.

BSB is rad. The riders seem more "scrappy".

Wished we could get some good coverage of those races over here in the states.

Agreed, but I like them like I currently get them from British EuroSport.

These guys know each other so well (it being a small country) and sincerely shake hands after the races, but the competition when the flag drops is great.

How the hell does a guy like Smrz go from a top 10 guy in WSBK to barely cracking the top 10 in BSB? He must be on a real shitty bike/team.

Did Haga even podium last year? British tracks are so different from the longer, wider more flowing tracks on the continent.
