Boot recommendations please?

Hello people,

I am looking for like the title says boot recommendations. I will be doing mostly street and some twisties in them. I might want to do a trackday now and then. But I am really just looking for a boot that will offer good protection, and is breathable (i.e. no swamp foot :barf ). So what boots do you have and why do you like them?

Thank You,
Danny

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
As for me, I love Sidi Boots......

I myself got the Sidi Strada which are more sport touring oriented than on the track.... very comfortable, waterproof, very good quality and after wearing several boots from Alpinestar to Daytona, I like the Sidi for what you get with the price ....

SIDI a good boot yes but....

the Daytona Winner and Safety are the best boots on the market. Hand crafted in Germany, my Daytona Boots fit me better than a pair that I had custom made to my foot by Z custom leathers.

I'd also recommend Sidi and Daytona. My current Sidi vertebraes are holding up very well at a year and a half of constant wear. The Daytona's I had previously were great, but they were already hand-me-downs when I got them and I wore them out.

Depends on your foot shape and budget though.

Stay away from the Frank Thomas boots at Cycle Gear. Very cheaply made and I found them very uncomfortable.

I agree with V4. Sidi makes quality and affordable boots. You can check them out and buy them at Helimot, Scuderia, La Moto Vita, Road Rider, etc. Or check out motonation, Sidi's official US Sidi distributor. I bought my B-One Sidi boots there. They have an awesome return policy.

B-One Sidi boots are similar to the Strada. However, it is not waterproof. Just water-resistant. The B-One Sidi boots does have the replaceable toe scuff pad, which I like very much. Because I noticed on my 2 low-sides, my toes seems to get dragged on the pavement.

i have the Alpinestars Super Tech boot. i think its a very comfortable boot for all around riding and offers great support and saftey. you have good feel in the ball of your foot and its not too stiff for shifting. it has an easy rear zipper entry and a soft boot design on the inside. i first bought the Alpinestars SMX plus, but it was very uncomfortable and very, very stiff. so i took them back and exchanged them. i wish there were more selections to pick from at the store i bought them. the Sidi are also very comfortable and offer good protection.

I've got the Alpinesars SMX's...
Got 'em on closeout from Accwhse.com for about $165. I think retail is about $210? Anyway, great boot for the money. After my lowside at 70 mph my feet were totally fine, although the boots took quite a beating. I'm conivced that if I had been wearing anything less, I would have been in trouble. If you are going to end up paying retail (or around it) I would probably go for the SIDI's. For the money, they seem to be THE boot to have.
I couldn't beliebe it when I went shopping for boots its like you have to pay over $200 to get anything decent! But then again, how much do you value all those bones in your feet? (and ankles!)

Crash test...

Hey StreetSquish, what boots were you wearing last weekend when you broke your ankle? Think a pair of the super race boots might have helped? :( I'm thinking of the $700 Daytonas with the carbon/kevlar hard liner.

I think there's a pair of boots in the pile somewhere. :wow

Go try some on. I have both Alpinestars SMX+ and Sidi Vertabrae2. The SMX feels like there is more padding while the Sidis feel like they're bony compared to the SMX. Both are very comfortable otherwise.

I wanted to try the Sidis because the Vertabraes2 have an adjustable calf section. For folks like me with big calves, that makes a big difference. If you add the leathers and thermals or underarmour, it makes for a tight fit.

Take the quality comments and go see what fits you within those parrameters. You don't want to buy a pair of boots and then buy leathers and have them not fit inside your boot. Since you may be doing track days, try some leather pants on with the boots to see.

I just got a pair of sidi vertabra 2 from zoom earlier this week... they have 10% off discount right now, but not sure if it ended or not for march. check their website. i got mine 224 out the door. They fit pretty good for me but still a little stiff right now. Hope it'll get better after I wear them more.

I was wearing the run of the mill Alpinestar SM-X boots. They did okay but I think either the Sidi Race-Vertebra or Alpinestar Supertech's "might" have helped me in my crash. I haven't seen the Daytonas but a carbon/kevlar hard liner sounds like a great idea. But now I went titanium - as in rod in my left tibia. It should hold up well but I cannot recommend it to ANYBODY!!!!!

I also nominate the Sidi Vertebra 2. I particularly like the Adjustable Calf System. I have such big cows that this is the only boot that fits me nicely.

Daytona EVO BASIC

I just ordered these about a month ago becasue I need a special size. They needed to find some XXL cows in Germany to cover my order. It will be about a month.

I've seen some daytonas that are short. That should also help with big calf folks.

Thank you everybody for your help!

I am definitley thinking about the sidi's either the verts the stradas or the b-ones. Does anyone know of any shop that might have them all in stock. I called up roadrider and they said they carried sidi's but I forgot to ask which ones. I will call later and ask.

Once again thank you everybody.

Danny, boots seem to be cheaper online. So, go to a store and try out a Sidi boot just see what size you are in Sidi boots. Then, you can order your Sidi boots anywhere! I ordered my B-Ones at Motonation, the official distributor of Sidi products. They sell the Vertebra and Strada there too. Good luck and have fun shopping!.
