BMW S1000RR gearing?

I have a '16 s1000rr, ECU to Brentune, full Ak, and filter. Spose to turn 205 to the wheel on 91, but I haven't had it dinoed. I put some videos up in track days, Sonoma 2/25,26 round page 9 or 10. It may make ya whince, and possibly chew your fingernails a bit, but it's the truth. I'm new.
The issue we've been discussing is that I'm rolling round the carrousel in second gear at about 8.5 to 9 doing 80 to 90mph. My rpm's are way to low, but the only thing I could do is drop it to first?? No one seems to think that's gunna work out well. Some of the experienced guys are sayin it's gearing, seems pretty reasonable to me? SO, has anyone regeared a BMW, what did you do, what happened? Or maybe you don't have one, but you know what to do? Any help?:ride

Zoinks!!!!
Is this also a street bike? That will probably change what gearing is recommended.

-2/+1 and -1/+2 are both pretty popular choices, with the latter being more suited for a combination street/track bike

Yes, at the moment it's serving both roles, but since I started doin track days it doesn't see much street anymore??:ride

What's your lap times? Depending on your speed I'd not focus too much on gearing, as not only is it not HP into the ground that is holding you back, but your gearing choices may change as you pick up speed.

If you're already quick, I'll let someone else answer the actual gearing question.

my friend that is racing MotoAmerica STK1000 on his BMW this year runs 16/42. 16/42 is a tiny bit taller than stock 17/45.

gearing is very depending on your pace. with more corner speed and more lean angle, those RPMs will come up a lot. the tire has a smaller diameter on the edge than in the center so its a big difference. but given that u arent there yet, u could probably just buy a 16 tooth front and run it.

That's an amazing time considering it's your 2nd track day! But I'd argue it's still at a point where focusing on coaching would be able to cut away more of your times than gearing - people with 1/5 the power of your bike do Sonoma ~10 seconds faster. But on the other hand, I'm all for whatever floats peoples boats, if you like tweaking gearing, go for it =)

Thanks man, lets see if I can a lil better.

Confused
But lets also answer the other question that got asked in the prior thread.

Do you use 1st gear on any of these tracks or do you "lug" it through 11 at Sonoma, or 14 at T Hill in 2nd?

that's taller than stock, correct?

Per Gearing Commander, slightly, ~3-6mph taller.

Corey Call's tuner, Willie at SJ BMW recommended 15/44. Says it works a treat at Sonoma, T-Hill and Laguna. YMMV.

With my HP4, I find I'm just not getting the feel from the front I want or expect. Hopefully dropping the forks in the triple clamps another 2mm will correct that. :loco

@WingnuttRR replied to your PM's with "quick reply." I'm showing no sent messages. If you received nothing, I'll try again with "reply."

Ok, so just to double check, before I spend any money? I just checked my factory sprockets and they're 17/45, so that means -1/+2 will be 16/47, correct?

Check http://www.renthal.com. I could not for the life of me find a 17t countershaft sprocket for my gen 1 10r anywhere till I went to their website and found one and ordered it for myself so you might have the same luck looking for what you want. And I highly recommend renthal, personally.
