BMW K1600 Bagger does Mines

Recedite, plebes!
Well today was fun. Was offered to take a 2018 BMW K1600 Bagger for a spin.
When the K1600 came out with the 6 cylinder motor in the GT and GTL versions it just didn't appeal to me. Yeah, lots of cool features but just way too big for my tastes. Plus, to me the earlier K1300 GT's were just better looking.

The Bagger is the more "svelte" of the K1600's.

The Bagger comes in at 740+ lbs, that's about 110 lbs more than my K1300 GT. Bagger wheelbase is a little over 5 inches longer than the GT. Horsepower is at 160, GT's a little more at 165. Torque for the Bagger is 129 @ 5300rpm, the GT is 100 at around 7900rpm.

Under 5mph the Bagger feels heavy, but once underway all that changes.
At low speeds the tranny clunks on gear changes, at speed its more of an affirmative click. Engine is very smooth, rolling on the throttle the torque is apparent. :)

Hmmmm, where to go? So it's been a few weeks since I've been up Mines...
Surprisingly nimble and easy to roll in and out of the corners. Brakes are excellent, and no need to go into 5th on any of the longer straight sections cause you run out of road before needing to shift out of 4th.

Exhaust note is pretty sweet and when you back out of thottle, it barks back at ya. :laughing

Yeah, it's Big, it's Bold, it's Bad, and FAST! :teeth
Do I want one? Oh yeah! Do I need one? No :(

Sadly the "J" was closed today.

Are we having fun yet?
Wow that resembles a Gold Wing FB6 - in both cases I much prefer the look of their standard version over the bagger version.

Jesus look at that exaust! Is that thing turbine powered?

Yeah, the side profile of those big chrome cans border on "fugly".
It's a long bike, got to get that exhaust routed to the back somehow.
Maybe black out some of the can so it doesn't appear so huge.

Also, the side cases are cavernous and appear to be wider than the outside edge of the mirrors by about an inch. No Bay Bridge lane splitting going on with this baby.

I think the "B" sits an inch or so lower than the GT/GTL (they're at 5.75" of ground clearance). And the execution of the exhaust looks a little better on the GT/GTL.

I like that it has mid mount pegs and floorboards that fold up if you don’t want to use them. That’s a neat feature.

I’d love to try one of those, but I’d probably make a dumb decision and then suddenly have two $30k bikes in my garage. Dat engine do.....hnnnngggh. Had a CBX years ago, so I definitely have a soft spot for the inline 6.

Big black and bad. You would look good on one.

Sometimes I miss my K1600GT but I do not miss the weight. Not sure you can call 740# "svelte" :rolleyes

I like it..
I also like the FB6. And the Victory Vision too.

Seat height would be important for me, too low to the ground is really uncomfortable for the long-legged. Harley baggers put a stitch in my side.
