There's a line between "discipline" and "abuse". My parents occasionally used corporal punishment. It certainly kept me and my brother on the straight and narrow... But knocking a kid to the ground and beating on him a bit and then hosing him down? Over-reaction much? That goes waaaay beyond discipline... even if there was bacon involved! :x
