OMFSM, I'm old. Well on Saturday 15 October I'll be older, and what better way to celebrate than spend it than riding with friends! :ride

So, I'm suggesting a Birthday BARF group ride up 9 > 35 > 84 > 1 > Half Moon Bay for the Pumpkin Festival, as that is one of my most favorite routes. We'd meet up with the scheduled group event on FoSMR for the 41st Annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival. Since Halloween is my most favorite day of the year I figured this would be a great way to celebrate. Theirs is more of an event than a ride as their route is only about half an hour. If riding up Hwy 1 is too cold, I guess we can always stay inland on 35 to 92 and skip 84 & 1, but I'd rather ride up the coast. Plus, I've been told that 92 becomes a parking lot of cagers trying to get to the Pumpkin Festival.

Please feel free to invite SBR people, as the more the merrier [Miri-er?], but I haven't posted there enough to jump in and post up a group ride.

I want/expect everyone to ride within their comfort level and most importantly be safe. We will regroup at STP and where 84 & 1 meet. I'll be on a Harley [yes, you read that right] and will be taking pictures throughout the ride and event. If anyone wants to volunteer to be leads and sweeps, that'd be much appreciated - especially those with experience leading and sweeping. I will also appreciate any other pictures and videos others take on the ride and at the Festival.

As per my usual birthday tradition, I will be begging for/accepting donations for Valley of the Kings Sanctuary - everything from $1 to $1,000,000. $2400 will sponsor a tiger or lion for a year [or $200 for a month]. $50 will sponsor a cougar or leopard for a month [$600 for a year] and $25 will sponsor a small mammal for a month [$300 for a year]. You can view the VotK animals in need of a sponsor if you're so inclined. Even if you donate $1, it will help as they are in an extreme need of donations this year. All donations are tax deductible as they are a 501(c)(3) charity. I will keep a list of people's names [addresses if you want them to send you a receipt] and donation amount that I will send in with the donations. Please know that I do NOT expect donations at all. Donations are 100% optional! This is just something I do on my birthday every year in lieu of any personal gifts.

MEET AT THE 76 @ BIG BASIN & SARATOGA BY 08:30.
KSU @ 09:00 SHARP!
, in hopes of arriving at the Festival around the same time as the SMR/FoSMR group.
Don't forget to dress appropriate for the weather/route. :)

I've never posted a group ride, so please let me know if I've left anything out or posted anything incorrectly.

I hope you'll be bringing your wife, Marc. =]

Initially, the bike will only have a cowl. The passenger seat will come later. We could try to drive and meet you in Half Moon Bay, but the fest's traffic is insane for cars. Put Heather as maybe.

Say, how many spankings are we going to have to give you?

Miri...bring a friend. :thumbup

Well, we will be meeting up with the Single Motorcycle Riders group there.

I do have a single, attractive friend that would like to learn how to ride as a pillion, but she's never been on a bike and has no gear. She's close to my size if anyone has any extra gear for her to borrow and I can/will teach her how to ride pillion with a willing pilot.
