Bike-Less in Texas

Hey y'all!

Thought I'd drop a line to all my BARF buddies, letting you know I'm OK and doing fine.

Got a network fault analyst gig in Irving TX, but the company didn't pay for the move... so had to sell a bunch of stuff to get here ... and yes, Pandora was sold, to this really cool French guy up in Sonoma, that teaches racing at Infineon. He also has an FZ-750, so was intending to either try and get Pandora running again, or combine the best of both bikes.

Haven't got a bike yet down here (man they EXPENSIVE!! Someone was asking $3000 for a thrashed-up 'stunna' F4i the other day... uh.. hello? The dent in the top of the tank's so deep it'll hide my tankbag!) but am trying to save up the $$ to get back on two wheels.

I miss you guys, and the roads and the camraderie. That said, anyone coming down this way, drop me a line via private message, and I'll be happy to share a couple beers with ya.

Dude, yea, I feel bad for you. The riding scene sucks in Texas. Do yourself a favor. If you buy a bike, either buy one from someone you know or else buy new. Because everyone abuses bikes out there. It's so hard to find something decent used. And YES! they are SO expensive. That's why I just plopped down the money for a new one when I lived there. Might as well spend a little extra and have a peace of mind. The insurance on sportbikes is also through the roof.

Also, the cops HATE sportbike riders and will immediately impound your bike and take you to jail if they catch you doubling the speed limit or doing triple digits. I actually got two speeding tickets the first 4 days I had my bike :cry

Also, watch out for the smashed armadillos on the roads. The blood is really slippery! And the shells sound gross when you run over them. Alot of cows too...and cattle guards. They are scary when you run over them all leaned over (the cattle guards).

Be careful. Lots and lots and lots of squids out there. And they are all so bright they don't wear helmets :teeth

Yeah, helmets seem to be ... optional. *shrug*

But I did see this couple on a 'Busa when we went to this Twin Peaks place (wanna-be Hooters, yay)... both in full-face helmets and armored jackets. Jeans and street shoes... but hey... it's a start.

There's about six guys and one girl that ride to work. Another three have bikes, but only take 'em out on weekends. And yeah, mostly cruisers, hardly any sportbikes.... must be all the straight roads.

Dragon - Nope, not working for EDS. Still with SBC, only it's AT&T now. Yay. If you've seen those ads where they show the same football game/movie going from TV to computer to cell phone... that the product I work with. IP TV.. they transmit 200+ channels of digital TV over the AT&T fiber network, and deliver it to the customer over a VDSL circuit within 3000' of the house. It's pretty sweet....

Interesting move, Dallas is cleanest cities ever seen. Rolled through there didn't even see a stray Mcdonald's bag blowing around. Very clean place.

Heh they need those Busa to get outta town on Texas scale mileage :laughing

Wondering what happen to George. Good to hear from ya. Enjoy your new digs.
