Big bike friendly camping/riding

Anyone have recommendations on areas that we can camp out at and also ride considering I have a Africa Twin and would probably prefer easier shit to ride?

I would also be taking the family which consists of a 2.5 year old, my wife and a then 4 month old baby. So it would have to be somewhere with a lake or water and not just a desolate area.

Are there routes and shit by Lake Tahoe?
Anyone have routes they have done that they can post up?

I wouldn't recommend taking the family up to Knoxville without scouting it out first, its a bit, primitive.
Check out these options if you want more creature comfort for the family:
http://www.riverrestresort.com/ - have yet to stay here, looks nice though
http://www.wrresort.com/ - a bit of a drive, but great amenities and you can ride forever in just about any direction

Yeah, wasn't suggesting taking the fam to Knoxville. But take them to Berryessa and ride up to Knoxville for some trails.

Boca Reservoir

Great Place plenty of FireRoads Dirt and Gravel to ride.

Take the family you wont regret it, and yes the spots are close to the lake.

Yup, boca, prosser and stampede all have easy drive in campsites near water and tons of trails and fire roads to explore. Also close to truckee when you want supplies, gas or to dine out. Bonus. Lake tahoe is close too

You could also check out Lake Pilsbury in the Mendo Ntl Forest, close by. Ntl Forest Service even has cabins you can rent right on the lake. Plenty of riding from easy to oh fuck what have I gotten myself into while your family enjoys the lake and a real cabin. Or tent it.

Lake Tahoe also has an OHV trail system as well as forest roads to explore, though not as extensive as other areas in NorCal. Check out the Tahoe Basin Mgt website for maps of the system, and then talk to a local for even more information. :thumbup

You could try the Sly Park area off 50. There are a couple of camp sites and there is plenty of fire roads to explore. If you look hard enough there are even a few single tracks. The ride to the Bret Harte Hotel is really fun and can be a bit of a challenge on a big bike.

There is a lake at sly park and river access close to one of the camp grounds. It is also pretty close to Icehouse which has camping and water access.
