Best helmet for cleaning?

What is a good helmet brand/model for easily taking it apart and washing?

My helmet gets soaking with sweat during these hot summer track days, I can only remove 80% of the padding in my Suomy lid :(

I run with an AGV GP Tech and the pads, including the neck roll are fully removable/replaceable.

Any skid lid can have that new helmet smell...

Just dunk your skid lid in a bucket of warm water and mild laundry detergent soap...

Hand agitate the liner until all the sweat and oils are removed...

Fill and rise the inside of the helmet with warm water to remove all the soap...

I towel the inside to soak up the water and then let it air dry for 2 days out in the sun...

Just look at the dirty water now my funky skid lid smells new again...

Thanks for the lid washings tips :thumbup

I just washed mine this morning, it sure did need a good washing. I would probably not put the helmet in direct sunlight for 2 days as this will degrade the fiberglass polymers faster than normal. I will air dry mine in the shade for a few days.

an entire trackday weekend in the sun degrades my helmet?!?!?!?! nah, thats just normal use.

a fan or wind outside will help it dry really fast.

You're welcome and helmets are painted to protect the polymers from direct sunlight...

Suomy helmets break down quite well, they have detachable liners and chin bars and stuff. I don't see why you would have any issues washing them either.

I'm sure all high end helmets have removable liners, thats how they simplify the size runs (one shell, many liners).

A small tilting electric fan works really well to keep your helmet dry in between sessions. Face the fan up and place the helmet on top of the fan cage with the visor open.
