Best gloves under $100?

I have some SP2 A* which after about 2 years have worn a hole in the thumb from normal riding. I called A* and they said they can sell me the GP plus for $111 compared to the regular $159 if I send in my old ones. Are there any other ones people recommend for good protection, the A* SP2's have such thin leather, it doesn't seem like their protection would be very good, especially seeing how the thump has a whole from normal day to day riding. Is it worth it to get the GP Plus, are they much better than the SP2's or is there another recommended glove you guys know of?

I was just noticing the other day how thin the palms of my SP2's were looking. Maybe it's time to move up a little.

i've had the same problem with BOTH pairs of my A* sp2 gloves, but they are just so damn comfortable that i can't complain. I've worn my buddie's sp1 gloves and after a year of him riding with them they still feel no where near broken in. Check out the NEW A* sp2's(2008). they changed the design a little to be more protective but are just as comfortable(i don't own them, but i've worn my friend's)

Quick. ish.
i just split my A* SP2's at the seam in the palm. Were 2 years old and had seen a lot of rain/sweat etc. I couldnt justify spending $150+ on a set of gloves so i bought a new pair of SP2's.

I have a pair of the 2008 SP2's - they're very comfortable once broken in, but I have the same concerns with wear. The thin leather gives a great feel on the controls, but they seem to wear fast and I'm concerned with the amount of protection they would provide in a crash. The carbon fiber knuckle guard is nice though - I hit a car mirror at about 30 mph when I was covering the brake and came away with minor bruises, glove was fine. I'd say hesitantly recommended if you don't mind buying a new pair 2 seasons down the road. :|

buy some nice dainese's or GP plus from craigslist.

A* gp plus's are great gloves though

I'd consider the GP Pro if they fit me.

I recently got a smokin' deal on some Alpinestars Stella GP Plus, and they're practically a clone of my Racer High Ends - except that the Racers are just that bit nicer in construction and materials. I'd pay the extra for the Racers, but I don't think the GP Plus are bad gloves.

I've always loved my Spidi gloves, you should check out the Spidi Strada gloves, Motonation has them for $99.

I think I am gonna spend the extra and get the Racer High Ends if I can find them at Roadrider, I found some Helimots almost new on CL for $100, but I think they may already be sold, otherwise I would get those.. I have still heard of Helimots and Racers (and A* and many other brands) stitching coming undone in under a year of riding without crashing, from reading various threads on here and SBR, I guess gloves stitching is just a weak-point, and hopefully I get lucky..

If you can find anyone still stocking Racer gloves post it up... my local dealer said their old sales rep disappeared and they can't even find anyone to place a purchase order with any more

Rolls with it...
I've had 2 pair of Spidi gloves over the years and have been very happy with them, quality and price wise.

Over those same years I've had a few too many quality issues with Alpinestar items that make me question their quality on anything that isn't a hat or t-shirt.

Just went and picked up some Helimot Buffalo Pro gloves, not cheap at $216 OTD, but decided to invest the money for protection and longevity.. they seem nice, just need some serious breaking in..
Thanks for all the advice:thumbup

Was about to suggest exactly what you ended up with... Buffalo 365s or the Pros. I've got the 365s myself and they are absolutely solid. I've never used a more comfortable glove, and the protection that they offer is absolutely fantastic. It feels how a true glove should feel... Tried on a bunch of A*, Joe Rocket etc etc gloves a while ago while in a Cycle Gear and they all felt like garbage in comparison.

The entry costs a little more, but you will not regret the purchase. Mine have been absolutely flawless.
