What are the top brands of exhaust systems (slip-on and full) ? I'm familiar with some brands and know what some sound like but I wanna know what the good ones are. Is Akrapovic and Hindle good, or should I just stay with TwoBros or Yoshi?

All the major brands like Akrapovic, Hindle, TwoBros, Yoshimura are all good kit. Safe to choose by your favorite design or price.

Slip-on versus Full System is a more complicated subject.

Slip-on systems are easier to install and often don't require remapping the EFI.

Full Systems require more effort to install and often require remapping the EFI.

With the new California laws in the works regarding loud bike exhausts you might want to keep the stock exhaust around just in case you need to reinstall it.

Hmm

Would/does slip-on systems make a huge difference in my sound or do I gotta do the hole nine yards to really get a clean deep sound? Cuz I'd rather not do full exhaust but I don't wanna waste money on slip on if it's just gonna sound cheesy. Ya dig lol?

You need to cut the stock exhaust cannister off and just run open pipes. It sounds great!

Why, is 2bros just obnoxious after awhile? My buddy had it and it sounded clean, but I bet it got a lill annoying.

With the Tsukigi you have a choice of "loud" (103db) or "quiet" (93db) baffles...

I -think- if you choose the "cannon" style (pic) your stuck w/the loud baffle.

Akropovic,Leo Vince,or Sato,Moriwaki. I prefer Akropovic because they fit,they are reasonably quiet,and make decent power.I would'nt put a two bros on a lawnmower,cheap,poor quality,poopy sound.
There are many, many small japanese companies that make beautiful systems, like what is posted above, that are harder to get,but are like works of art.

Squid.
I think the better question is why do you want an exhaust? If it's just for noise, the brand doesn't really matter. Pick the one that sounds the best for you. If it's for power, you're best off getting a remap done with the stock exhaust installed as the higher backpressure means you can get a much fatter midrange over a straighter pipe. Most bikes end up hitting hard at around 5k with an aftermarket system because all the aftermarket systems are designed for top end and big power numbers, pretty useless on the street, especially on a 600.

I really like the Tsukigi stuff; I put one on my ZRX in 99', & at the time it was the best quality system you could get for that bike. Yeah a bit more pricey than the Muzzys, but now days Muzzys & others have increased in price up to almost equal the Tuskigi. I have since sold the bike (in avatar pic <<<), & it's still got the Tsukigi on it running strong & looking great.

Oh, & BTW, it made 135.1hp compared to 133.2 for the Muzzy on the Dynojet dyno. Not too shabby...:thumbup

Wow this thread is morphing into some good BARF hilarity.

TheGsxr6: To minimize unnecessary costs, complexity and decibels just get a slip-on pipe. As to which one sounds best that's a very personal choice that really only you can make. Just look and listen at some other bikes and which exhausts they are using and try to decide what sounds best to you.
