Battery tender extension cable

I have a Deltran Battery Plus 1.25 AMP 12 V.

I would like to have the battery tender in my garage protected form the rain while maintaining the battery outside in the weather.

Can I make an extension to go between the vehicle and the battery tender? What would be the longest extension that could be used?
Should the extension wire size be the same as the cable on the tender?

If you don’t already have one get the pigtail that connects to your battery. Then all you need to do is connect the two wires to charge your bike. Assuming your battery is under the seat or some equally inaccessible spot like mine are.

I have a big fat box of connectors left over from installing them in generators when they fail (they come with 2 or 3 I use one or none and hardwire them then throw the rest in a box to give to moto people). Some crimps and cheap cable (I used a roll of 14 awg speaker wire) and you are in business. I run them in the rafters and drop where needed. You need connectors I'll load you up. You may have to cut off the ends and homebrew the ends but free is free. I'm typically around on the weekends.
