Be Here Now
Since REL couldn't make the event and was one of the driving forces behind it, I wanted to make sure I posted up a tale of the tape for him, and anyone else who couldn't make the event.
So I present to you:
BARF OLYMPICS AND MEAT-OFF
Where to begin? The food? The events? The Motorcycles? I don't even know :dunno
I guess I will begin by thanking you all. I want to especially thank Horsepower for putting this whole thing together. I am glad to have helped out with set up before hand. I want to thank Budman for showing up and of course, for running Ze BARF. All the cooking competitors, great job. I wish I had the chance to eat more of your food under the guise of being a judge instead of scooping up on some leftovers when I finally put the camera down.
Biggest thanks has to go to those who met my father however. This was a rather special event for me as it was his first exposure to the world of BARF. Being a major influence in my riding life, it was special to bring him to the world I have discovered and the people I have come to call my friends and riding family. BanjoBoy, Random-Bubblehead, and everyone else who chatted with him and welcomed him, seriously, thank you!
My father and I don't get to ride together enough, so riding with him over Berryessa was an experience in it's own right.
As we were stopped along Putah Creek taking a break, I realized I was in a prime location to snap some pics of bikes as there was a lot out. I have a feeling not all were BARFers so I got some strange looks as I snapped away.
In the "BARFers behaving Badly" Category :facepalm
As I sat there waiting for the large SpeedyCorky group by, I kept myself entertained by snapping the Harleys that also seemed to be out enjoying they day.
And finally, the group ride roared by. And when I say roared, I mean gently accelerated as they had been held up by a RV. Not quite the lean I was hoping for.
Upon arrival, I was glad to see that people had actually showed up in mass and it wasn't long before the first event took place. Egg and Spoon on a horse.
There were a couple of ringers out who made it look way to easy.
But with all their experience, it wasn't easy and the beautiful stench of FAIL wafted through the air.
Still, the smiles said it all.
