BARF Hikers

So, since I like to hike and don't have a lot of hiking partners these days whose schedules are in sync with me, who likes to hike in the BARF world? If so, I'd like to hike with you. I'm a lame hiker who can't do more than 3 - 4 hours of hiking, and I primarily stick to the Santa Cruz mountains and Peninsula, but am welcome to hear of other locations.

Post up! Maybe something of a new year's resolution for some of you BARFers.

Cheers! :party

I plan to hit up Half Dome in Spring, hopefully with my girlfriend. My favorite hike. I am currently training for it, by eating lots of donuts and watching discovery show. :laughing

I used to like hiking up to alamare falls. I haven't done much lately due to odd schedules though :(

Looks pretty. That'd be a road trip for me.

I might be interested. When do you typically go? My hiking status = noob...

What kind of physical shape are you in? Do you do any other exercising on a regular basis? I'm usually going on weekends since I am final back on a normal schedule having a regular job again. A month ago would have been a 'whenever' day type of deal since I didn't work then.

Doing a small hike on Sunday out to Alston Park in Napa, then hopping on the moto and riding out to Pt Reyes to do some whale watching and hiking on the point...

Be Here Now
So, instead of doing a good hike like I wanted, I wound up doing two small hikes, a whole lot of geocaching, and two days of good riding.

I planned on going out to the lighthouse at Pt Reyes to do some whale watching, however by the time I got out there they had closed it off and were shuttling people up... I hate the shuttles, more I hate paying for the shuttles, so I went down to south beach instead and enjoyed my sammich, walked along the beach... NOTE: Motorcycle boots don't make good sand gear.

The next day I went to Vallejo to visit a fellow BARFers chiropractic shop and get some crack..... :rofl

Afterwards, I went out to Mare Island and roamed around. I hadn't been out there since I was a kid and my dad was stationed out there. Funny to think... My great grandfather, my grandfather, and my father all were stationed at Mare Island... I only had day-care there :rofl

Was kinda sad how much was torn down, but it made good photos...

Yes, I know your asking, why all these pics of the bike in a hiker's thread...

well eventually I did get off my bike and walk around the docks... they were working on this old tender, the Solom Turman...

From there I went down the Bay trail for a few last geocaches and an enjoyable hike. I hadn't been on this new trail yet. I was amazed at how many signs there were saying no bicycles... ((If I could have fit it I would have snuck my moto out there)) and yet it was a wide road, with a fence saying "don't hop the fence, there's nuclear stuff over here"

Still need to get out to Alston Park in napa, maybe I'll do an afternoon hike this week.

I'm new to the area but do enjoy taking a good hiking/camping trip whenever possible. If anyone has something going on I would love to join. Here are some random shots taken from various spots in Southern California, Mt. Whitney, Alaska and Central America.

Damn I want to go hiking now. Staying at one of the Hilltribe villages in Thailand during a three day hike there. Damn it was freezing at night!

Sykes took us about 5.5 hours each way. Nothing too steep, although it was a pretty steady incline. Once the rains pick up, it might be impossible to get to because of the river crossings.

I'd love to do mount whitney next year.

O yeah, I ran into the Berkeley students who got arrested in Iran while I was hiking back to the trailhead.

Wow! Nice hikes/pics :)

Here's a few from a hike on Oahu. The best part was I only saw 2 people the whole hike.
