BARF Golf Tournament

So I was golfing with another BARFer recently and he thought it might be a good idea to put together a tournament of golfing BARFers...with proceeds benefiting BARF, of course. It would be a standard 18-hole round with typical scoring (adjusting for handicap index as well), but there'd also be awards for the typical tournament things like closest tee shot to the pin on a select hole, longest drive, highest unintentional hole score, most unintentional lost balls, etcetera. There'd be a small entry fee to cover costs for small trophies and greens fees/carts, but all profit would go straight to BARF. I'm not looking to make money on this at all.

If you're concerned about COVID-19, keep in mind that golf easily allows for social distancing and I assume if you're a golfer, you're likely long since back on the course by now anyway as literally every course is fully reopen with proper COVID-19 rules in place. The weather is wonderful for golf this time of year, too.

I'm not sure how many people we'd need to make this work well, but I'm assuming at least 20 so please, help get the word out and of course I'll keep this open until we get there. :thumbup

All of those can DEFINITELY be included! :laughing

We'd have to play Redwood Canyon for the wildlife part, though. I've never seen more wildlife on any other local course. The deer especially don't give two shits about any of the players. They'll walk out right into the middle of the fairway and just stare at you like, "What, motherfucker?" :rofl

I'm in, of course. Playing Half Moon Bay tomorrow...also...made the decision that once I get my FZ09 gets back from the shop it's up for sale for seriousness. Hoping to get $5500 for it...which will go towards a fitting, a couple lessons, and a nice new set of PXGs.

Let me know where you get fitted and if they’re good at it. I think I need a full set of properly fitted clubs. I’m reasonably certain that everything I have except for my putter is too short and/or wrong for me.

I’m almost 6’4” and I have off the rack clubs. I top the ball a lot. Like a lot. Then I try to overcompensate and really bend my knees then I hit it way too fat. I don’t with the driver off the tee since I tee it up to the moon. My driver club head speed is in the 11teens range. I’m pretty sure a good club fitter would have a field day with me.

I kept topping the ball until I choked up a bit and bent over more at the waste. Solved that problem right away. But I'm only 5'10".

I already hold the club so far up the grip that the end of it wears a hole in my glove after a bucket or two at the range.

So yeah, longer shafts for me. Maybe even thicker grips too? I’ve got pretty big hands. If the fitter wants to mess around with lie angles and such too, they can go nuts. If I buy another full set, I’ll spend whatever money it takes, but it’s going to be exactly right for me.
