I heard about it on the radio.....moto accident with a tree down with 9 closed in both directions. I saw nothing in print media or on here (barf) for that matter.
Anyone have details?
(sincerely hoping for mild or no injuries or anyone we know)

Motorcyclist was injured per ‘can barely move head or legs’. Hoping for a healthy recovery.

Suh Dude
I heard about this, bike was over the hillside.

Pavement in that area is BRAND new, which is a bad thing. It is slippery until it gets a rainy season

Got there immediately after they closed the road. Coming from Stevens Creek/Redwood Gulch, it was a maybe a mile west. Spoke to the rider's buddy briefly. Don't know cause of crash. At the time (roughly 10/10:15am), a fireman told us "it's bad," but that the rider was responsive and that the road would be closed at least 45 minutes in both directions.

We were trying to get to Big Basin and decided to backtrack 9 East > 17 > Bear Creek Road into Boulder Creek. Incredibly, we wound up witnessing another crash, this one much more minor on 236 in Big Basin, about a mile from the park headquarters. An unlucky solo rider on a Bonneville came around a blind corner and was met with a lot of washed out gravel and sand. He wound up hurting his shoulder (possible fracture), but was otherwise ok. My buddy and I stayed with him and helped direct traffic for the first responders. Even more incredibly, the Highway Patrol LEO who showed up had been one of MANY who worked the first, big crash on 9. He told me that that rider suffered two broken legs. The LEO also said it's been a particularly bad week for crashes in that area (cars + trucks, included).

Please note that all of my info is hearsay from first responders! Wishing the rider a speedy recovery.

Let's see: Exactly a week ago, car into hillside right in front of our house. No interesting injury, but car totaled (airbags deployed). Some day this week around 8am, at the corner of Bear Creek and Summit Road, motorcycle head-on collision, serious injury, but rider transported by ambulance. Reports from neighbors who were on the road indicate that the rider was 23103 beforehand. Friday or Saturday night around 10pm, on Summit Road, motorcycle accident, rider critical, air-lifted out to trauma center. The CHP treated the accident scene as if it were a fatality (all vehicles removed by evidence tow). Then the accident at 9 and 35 today. Add to that the rider fatality on Bear Creek below the vineyards two weeks ago: Yes it has been very bad.

I don't know how much of this is a statistical fluctuation, or whether there is a seasonal effect. Of the three accidents I can make an educated guess at the cause, one was a tragedy that the driver could not have prevented, and two involved reckless driving.

A big thank you to the local fire fighters and ambulance crews, and the CHP, for dealing with all of this.

Wow.
Yep, it was all over the news. Did the bike actually put a tree across the road or was that just more *radio news hyperbole*?
I hope everyone heals up.....and good on you guys for taking up the slack until the first responders showed up. :thumbup

I know I went out for a ride on Hamilton and then mines on Saturday, it was a major shitshow. SUV bumped one if the bicycles riding up Hamilton from behind and knocked the rider over. Then, nearing the top by the observatory, there was a pair of riders on motorcycles and one scraped pegs which sent him tumbling off the side of the road into the ditch. Swore up and down he was okay, but I saw his riding partner struggle to lift him to his feet. Once up, he could barely even stand. They didn't want any help, but I found one of the sheriff's on the way up closer to the observatory and let him know what happened. And to finish it off, someone's bike was leaking oil and leaving a nice long trail of fresh oil across the road heading up to the observatory after that. Slick as hell and coating everything. You could see the riding line the rider was taking because it was so thick.

Hamilton wasn't a good day that day at all.

I went by the scene just before they pulled the bike up from the side and I didn't see any signs of a tree having fallen on the road... might have been over the edge aswell...?

Hope the rider makes a full recovery ... and people behave up there! new pavement and all!
