A few years ago my wife and I along with my son rode up to Crater Lake. We stayed in the Crater lake lodge right on the rim. Awesome place. Could have meals on the outdoor balcony looking at the lake. We got lucky. Rooms run $499 a night but they gave us an upstairs unit for $199. We didn't have a reservation either. The road around the lake was still closed due to snow. We went as far as we could, and, of course, my bike fried it's battery and I had to get towed back to the hotel. Rode my son's F2 down to Klamath Falls for a new one.
It's an amazing place. Go there

I always try to have dinner and hang out in all the National Parks Great Lodges. Crater Lakes was fine dining and the balcony looking at the lake was worth an hour or two.
