Sounds awesome! A bit far from the date, but marking this one down as a maybe. I do not have bike friendly camping gear though.. so that might be a challenge.:ride

Just a heads up. Buddy and I went down a few weeks back and the dispersed camping off Los Buros/Prewitts was PACKED. We got lucky and someone let us share their spot, but a lot of people were set up for what appeared to be long extended stays. I have a feeling a lot of the work from home crowd are heading out there mid week, snatching up spots and hanging out. Prewitts ridge was on fire the weekend we went and so some of those sport were not accessible, nor was the road right after Prewitt Ridge Campground. We went further south and accessed this area from Los Buros Road. Getting to your site early might be the difference between a fun ride, and scrambling for other accommodations. It also doesn't help that the improved campgrounds down there were either closed, or completely full. Hope you guys have fun, sounds like a fun ride.

What?! That's a bummer. There are a couple of other campgrounds, down past Fort Hunter Ligget and even a couple of dispersed sites. I'll edit this post later when I have time to look them up. Basically, go past the fort towards the mission and head west into the Forestry boundry. They aren't particularly nice, but I've only seen one person there in the times that I've been in the area and even then I think he was a cabin dweller, not a camper.

Edit: Memorial and Escondido campgrounds, off of Indians road. And a couple of dispersed sites just before Memorial, if I remember correctly.

Check out San Martin Top way up Los Burros Road it's my favorite spot. It kinda high up there so there "MIGHT" not be anyone there. It's a more adventurous route getting there. You can watch the cars on PCH at night also they looks like ants.

I did a scouting trip up there a two weeks ago. I agree that Prewett Ridge is getting way too popular. Might have to pick a spot further down S. Coast Ridge Road. The ridge road is moderately challenging for some.
