Just wanted to let those of you that are competing in this years AMA at Infineon the new rule regarding participation in practice and/or racing before the event. This goes for all classes, Superbike, DSB, Super Sport and Harleys.
The new rule (as per the 2011 AMA rule book) basically states that any and all competitors wishing to do a trackday, race, or any on track event 30 days prior to the AMA event WILL be allowed to do so but NOT without a penalty.
The penalty pertains to qualifying. Should you qualify for the AMA race, (based on the time cut-off percentage) then your qualifying position, no matter how good will result in a BACK ROW starting position.:mad In other words, for instance, if you race in the upcoming Infineon AFM race, then show up to do AMA, go out and get pole for any of the classes then you're gonna start from the back row.
Only reason I'm bringing this up is that we we're planning on racing AFM prior to AMA but that is now out of the question for us. This may not matter to some of the folks that I see that have already signed up for AMA Infineon but I though I would just make some of you aware cause I missed it in the rule book. This does suck, especially for those competing for AFM class championships. I guess some of you guys and gals will have some decisions to make.
