Do you think it is a vast improvement to the older ones? I do! well, if you are green with envy but dont feel like new headlights and traction control are worth buying a new bike, i have the answer for you!

If you purchase a new Front Fairing and headlight assembly for a 2012 R1, along with a few other small bits, they will bolt directly to your 2009-2011 R1!!! here is where i found the information. there is proof that it works flawlessly, a parts list and even a contact to order your conversion kit!

http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=329646

i ordered mine, and i will post pics when its done.

Really GUYS?? If you have the money to drop on a "conversion kit" so you can have some silly lights, you have too much money and are not investing in the rite mods for your bikes! I hate it when people put lights and shit on bikes. All that shit is going to do is cause more excuses about why you cant keep up with the GSXR's! Spend more money on loading up your Starbucks cards and less on a silly light conversion! my ~~> :2cents

my reason is because my headlight assembly and front fairing are broken. i am making a repair with an upgrade. i dont race and dont even have the means for trackdays anymore. i am doing it because i like the new look and it will make me happy to enjoy the look of my bike more, kinda like why i got the bike, it makes me happy. i could spend thousands of dollars on upgrades and still get smoked by someone on a stock 600 who knows what their doing and since its not my profession, sounds like a waste of money. where would my $500 be better spent? a better steering stabilizer so i dont get headshake in traffic? rear sets so my bike is just as comfortable for street riding as it is now? oh, i know, a full exhaust system so i can set off car alarms downtown.

i hate to belittle your post but its just my :2cents

The temptation to install custom modifications can be hard to resist.

In this case it appears the fit and finish of the mod went rather well.

neither light assem is attractive to be blunt.
i wasnt fond of the headlights when i bought my bike but i was very happy with everything else.no one seem to really like them but prefer the new ones.

the black bike pictured has the conversion.

the conversion kit is just factory yamaha parts, nothing custom made or 3rd party parts.

i agree with you guys on some aspects, i guess.. BUT if you dont consider yourself a good enough rider to take your 180+hp bike to the track or near its potential, then why own a liter bike in the first place? I understand why your doing the light mod and if your making a repair at the same time, then its a cool thing to do i quess, but taking a non-busted up bike and jsut doing the light swap is pretty pose to me.. I would rather an exhaust that doesnt set off car alarms, IE: Akro, maybe a full-ti system, awsome quality. It makes the bike look sexier, it reduces weight, and all while making the bike breathe better at the same time. And to answer your question: YES, on the steering damp (saved my ass many times), YES on the Rear Sets (even for pose points they look better than lights), and YES on the exhaust (makes the bike more lively, isnt that why you bought a liter bike in the first place)! You have a bloody R1, ballz up and ride it like an r1 should be rode and dont waste time trying to explain how a light kit makes the bike look better and its the cool thing to do! Why else would you spend the extra $$ to get a liter bike, besides "oh because it looks pretty", the thing is a rocket ship man!! Go buy a dam blow up doll and put makeup on it and dress it up, it still looks sexy but you cant do shit with it!! Your money, your waste! Ill see you as I past Starbucks the next time through town! ...Sorry for being such an asshole but realy guys, a f***n light kit thats now a kit you can get from yamaha... I thought Yamaha made champions on the track! Isnt that their saying

yeah... my 09 R1 makes 180+hp:rofl

both exhaust setups you listed will set off car alarms with an 09+ r1.

if i was doing trackdays, i would absolutely have all the mods you listed. i would also have race plastics. the reality is, i spend all my time on the street and in the canyons, so i buy what fits my enviorment. a full exhaust for my bike is a waste of money. and honestly, if i had the cash i would buy a separate bike for the track and it would probably be a 600.

everyone is allowed their own opinion. :twofinger
