App to Find & Share Motorcycle Parking

Hey guys! As some of you know, I have a startup called CurbNinja which is an app that maps out all the motorcycle-friendly parking spaces in the city. Well, we released our new version this week and I thought I would share it!

Think of the app kinda like the Waze of motorbike parking where you can not only find reliable free and metered spots, but share spots you find with your fellow bikers. We rely on YOU to help build and maintain our spot inventory.

Anyway, download it on iTunes today and please give me feedback. I hope it helps you avoid some parking tickets!

Enjoy!

I'm a little bit concerned about the photo aspect.

Couldn't a thief potentially watch for new tags and check for nice bikes to steal in the images?

It's probably a moot point, as most people aren't going to take the time to take a photo, and a lot of photos might be an empty space. Plus, most spots are already tagged.

Just thinking out loud...

Android version will be coming soon! Hopefully by end of summer. Building the Android version is #1 priority, but we only have so much bandwidth since were a small startup.

Excellent thoughts Kingjie. I would say that a thief is gonna be a thief and steal bikes either way. I doubt having the photo will increase the amount of thefts, but the image does help users see what to look for when parking, especially in free spots. Also, we'll know who downloaded it and perhaps can narrow down a search for law enforcement to find crooks! (hypothetically)

We definitely have most metered spots in SF tagged, but we don't have most of the free ones. That's where we really rely on the community. Event photos of empty spaces help! Most of the San Jose spot images are of empty spots.

Any plans to have it accessible through your website?

Is that something you'd find useful? Web apps would be feature-limited, like we could show you spots by address search, but getting an accurate current location does not work as well with non-native apps. Do you not own a smart phone?

No spaces listed around Stanford, none at Alice's in Woodside. Does it take people to arrive there and "announce" the space is there for it to show up?

Ask and you shall receive! I just added Alice's as a business listing. Search again and you should see it.

We're working on the peninsula right now, but yes you can share those spots yourself and help us! :) What you call "announce" we call "tagging." And to answer Marcoose's question, you need to sign in to do just that, tag spots you find.

Cool idea... are you just in SF now or can someone tag a spot in say... Sacramento?

At this moment we're in SF, San Jose, San Diego, Vegas & Boston. Funny you bring up Sacramento as I am literally working on that database this moment! We'll have 152 spots in Sac by next week. And yes, you can tag a spot in Sac, but we'll have the city ones done for you!

We're working on a bunch more cities nationwide :thumbup

Best of luck with the app, Tim.

I am unemployed and I am going to start working on my eventual app project. TL;DR I want to go to a coding bootcamp (Hack Reactor) and I failed to get in the first time and on the second time they want me to show them a project that shows understanding of the basics. I've had a motorcycle route app idea inside my head so f___ it, Im gonna do it live. (At least the MVP).

*/So far I've dabbled just in front end stuff. HTML/CSS and JavaScript* (and some Jquery here and there). Nothing too crazy but I definitely want to take it to the next level at some point (including mobile).

Also, I want to have a better job than I've had before.

*Most of my focus has been on understanding JS.

Thanks guys.
