So some guy who made the original GTA games (1 and 2) and left rockstar got 50 million dollars to make a GTA MMO:
APB has been described by Realtime Worlds executive Colin Macdonald as being "the bastard child of everything we’ve been striving towards over the 15-20 years" and a culmination of "what [David Jones'] always wanted to do from GTA and before Crackdown and APB."

Well he did a good job. Game is really fun, just like playing GTA. You group up with friends and you can do missions to level up, unlock and buy new guns, cars, upgrades. There's almost zero RPG elements, it's a first person shooter where you can jack cars and arrest people, break into places and steal merchandise, and get into awesome shootouts. The customization of your character and cars is through the roof awesome. Aside from buying the clothes, and the cars, you can paint and design them for as long as you like and for free.

There's 2 sides, criminals and enforcers. Criminals can steal and rob, and make a lot of money. Enforcers can arrest, report crimes, and drive around with sirens blaring. There's wanted levels, for both sides (enforcers get notoriety) and the higher the level the more money and points you get as you kill/steal/arrest. When you max out you become A TARGET FOR THE ENTIRE CITY TO KILL! With 100 players to every city that could become a problem...:laughing

There's in game voice chat too, and everyone can hear it. Pretty cool to hear your enemies scream in anger or people in social district saying random shit.

Game is $50, +$10 a month. There's a ton of things you can spend your money on, but I am just buying the monthly sub. I suggest buying it off steampowered.com. If you already bought it then which server are you on and what side? :cool

That's always a plus, though I'll have to play test it on a friends computer before I jump right in with my cash.

Tired of getting games and finding out they suck after a couple hours of game time.

One thing though is it's definitely a team based game. The fun you have hinges on the communication and effectiveness of your team of 4 people. I would suggest investing $10 at least in a microphone, although a USB headset for $30 from radioshack is recommended.

I played with bad teams and had not as much fun as playing with close friends where we were extremely focused and working together as much as possible and covering each other's backs, using tactics of flanking and cover.

That's the thing that'll probably ruin my experience. Won't really have anyone I know to game with and I'll be stuck doing PUG's with the socially ruh-tarded.

I can only really play at 1 AM to 3 or 4 AM since I work swing and my only days off are Wed/Thurs.

Looks like a sweet game.

I wonder how long before we see some defendants using the "Mental defect, I played too much GTA" as an affirmative defense at their trials.

I've only experienced the pre order time and the key to the city beta, so people who pre ordered or got into the beta played which thins out the retarded demographic heavily. When the game comes out it will go up, most of the pugs are really good. Just talk to them through your mic and if you can hear them talking it'll be good.

I'm not a fan of MMOS that have forced grouping. You should be able to solo it.
