Anyone using the Bazzaz Z-FI/TC system?

Just wondering if anyone is using it. I have a kit, but haven’t put it on. Wanted to get a review and see if there are any quirks I should be aware of.

Thanks in advance

i had it on my zx10r... I eventually removed and replaced with kawi kit ecu.

Seemed to be fine overall, but i used OEM TC over bazazz as oem TC was real TC and bazazz was just a best guess.

I have it on my 08 R6.
The traction control works very well, with the caveat that I never rode the bike without it so I can't offer you a back-to-back comparison. It's set to engage TC early and softly. I've never felt it kick on when it engages but I've definitely heard it working on corner exit sometimes (just some staccato pops out the exhaust).
It won't save everything though, I've had some big rear slides from getting on the gas with too much lean. I'm sure I could tune it to be more aggressive to clean that up, it's only happening on one particular corner for me so I think that's just poor technique.
The quickshift is excellent, you can tune the duration of ignition cut per gear to fine tune your shifts. Again, never rode the bike without it (or even without it dialed in) but compared to a non-quickshift R6 it's seamless and instantaneous upshifting. I can't picture much room for improvement in that aspect, mine has no detectable clunkyness/lurching/hesitation.
The only thing it's lacking is an autoblipper.

Same as Nick, I ran it but didn't run the TC function on it. The TC is pretty darn good for a bolt on system, but it'll slow me down about 1-1.5 seconds a lap. My TC is on a map switch: TC on/ TC off. Makes it easy to turn it on if you want (or off).

Thanks all. I have an older generation TC on my 2014 MV and looking to make it a bit better. Mostly doing it for the fueling and QS, though.

I run it on my GSXR1000. The fuel mapping function is great and thorough. The traction control I've never run anywhere near where it cuts in.

I have it on my 2012 zx6r. One common issue with those systems is that the wire splicers that are provided in the kit are known to be "cheap", according to Attack Performance. I had an issue when they were mapping my bike that the piggyback ECU didn't know what RPM the engine was at due to this issue. Easy fix but something to be aware of. Other than that it has worked perfectly.

They actually aren't cheap, but the do need to be installed properly, and that's difficult on some bikes where the attachment is hard to get to. Connectors that cut the insulation of the wire and snug up to the wire need a perfect connection, which often doesn't happen.

The 2008 R6 trackbike I bought last year came with a Bazzaz system (fueling, TC & quickshifter). I've only ridden it once since then so really can't give a comprehensive report, but it does feel nice. I'll be bringing it to BRG's dyno day so I can get a baseline reading. Hopefully he can also tell me why the QS feels a bit clunky, how to adjust the TC with the bar-mounted knob and also explain why it idles at 2,000rpm. :wtf

Is this last an R6 thing? :dunno

if the QS clunks after the shift, the kill times are too long. if it clunks before or doesnt shift all the way, the kill times are too short.

I think the 06-07 R6 had very low oil pressure at idle, which could lead to some engine wear. some people turned up the idle to alleviate this. I thought it was fixed by 08, but im not sure.

higher idle also reducing engine braking a lot. but most people these days tune that in their flash or with the slipper.

The bar knob adds or subtracts 2 points (IIRC ) per step. It's not a large amount. Bazazz uses so many different setpoints with their TC ( rpm differential, amount of control, global control, cut in point, and also has so many locations where the setpoints apply that you really need to RTFM. Or set some low 1-3 setting and go from there.

Any recommendations on an installer? I was going to do it myself, but may reconsider that.

Planning on running the provided map, since the bike doesn’t have any engine mods. I’m just looking to smooth the throttle and fix the QS, really.

Fuck no, do it yourself. It's ridiculously easy. Just follow the instructions.

Get the Z bomb as well. Oddly enough the lower rpms need cleaning up on most of the bikes, they are too lean in order to meet emissions standards.

I’ve got the Z-AFM, too.

Thanks!

+1. Stock fuel maps SUCK. Super lean with horrible notchy throttle on bottom from off throttle to on throttle.

Vortex rearsets. I have the switch but was told that only one map was loaded.

Btw this is allegedly Jeff Beaubier's "B" bike. :ride

Check the play on the shift linkage. I ran woodcraft stuff for years (it's good stuff), but the way the rear sets are set up, the linkage was too long a throw for my range of travel with my foot. I switched to Attack and now it's problem free. I'd start there if you think it's a travel issue, possibly. Out of the box, those QS's are setup pretty darn well, IMO.
