copper in the oil pan on my newly acquired s2000 :( looking for someone to replace bearings/rings at a reasonable rate. anyone looking for work or know someone?

Appears that no machining will be necessary, but it's too early to tell with the motor in the car. Motor still runs, drives, and there is no audible knock but figured I'd jump the gun and get the work done before I'm stranded somewhere or worse. :p

Thanks in advance teh BARF :teeth

Sounds like you may be jumping the gun a bit. Who else has checked your oil content or inspected the engine? Hondas are notorious for making audible noise with extremely little bearing wear/damage. Hows it run?
Prolly should find an honest, experienced tech to inspect and advise before you pay someone to do something you may not need unless you are certain about your finding. :2cents

I'm pretty handy myself with a wrench actually, just don't have the space, time, or tools at the moment for such a task. I'd imagine a mechanic with all the resources could tackle the job and finish it in 1 long day.

My reasoning for jumping the gun is that I'm positive the flakes of copper/brass are an indicator that the engine is ready to give out after 180,000+ faithful miles. From my understanding of the schematics in the shop manual, there's no other source for the flakes I found. They're very very likely flakes from the bearing surfaces.

We can do the repairs at our shop, half of the shop is motorcycle and the other half is automotive, But make sure you arent jumping the gun too soon. If you get a chance come by the shop and talk to Chad or Chris. Chris is an ASE cert master tech.

Sister's boyfriend is a certified auto mechanic. Worked at Capitol Subaru for a few years and recently transferred to Capitol Toyota since the pay is better.

He does jobs on the side for a fraction of dealer rates, but you'd have to drive down to SJ to drop your car off with him.
If that's viable for you & you want me to get you in contact with him, pm me your number :thumbup
