Anyone in SF have time tomorrow 1:00pm to support OHV park in SJ?

One of the cities that governs the land has finally shown interest in being the local lead in the project. CA State Parks and the California Air Resources Board are very much interested in it moving forward and have funding available. With the passage of proposition 68 literally hundreds of millions of dollars are available.

Meeting: An important part of the park is a loop trail on the levee of "pond A18" The levee has been included in a restoration plan to restore tidal flow in the former salt harvesting ponds. The levee will breached and lowered, negating a trail.

A loop trail for the park is important for families and the elderly/disabled to get out into nature on tours or self-guided park use. I propose breaching and bridging the levee and opening a park trail.

I believe the restoration plan did not meet it's goal of retaining existing recreation. A 9-mile loop trail out on the Bay is being lost. In exchange, mitigation for loosing the trail is paving an existing trail next to the freeway, far from the bay and a zig-zag trail past garbage dumps and the sewer plant. This is not retaining the current level of recreation.

Allowing a trail around pond A18 should be included as mitigation for loosing the 9-mile trail.

If anyone is near San Francisco and would like to speak tomorrow, June 21, during public comment at 1:00pm and/or during agenda item 8 on the topics above please see the details below.

Thanks!
