Anyone have Aerostich they'd let me try on?

I'd like to take a look at and try on some 'stich pants. I'm looking at the AD1 and the Utility. Curious about Darien, too. I think I'm size 30 or 32 R.

If you've got something like this and are willing to let me try it on, let me know and I'll bring you coffee or beer for the inconvenience.

Thanks!

Yo, good looking*, you may want to specify your gender, and waist and in-seam, to help people help you.

Why not go with the original roadcrafters comfortable convenient easy to get in and out of. I've had mine for 20 odd years they are worn and tattered but still work like a charm.

Honestly, I don't think I care about "easy in and out" very much. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing. Open to trying one if anyone has something remotely in my size that they're willing to show me.

I've got Darien light pants in 30L (pretty sure they're lights- bought several yrs ago), but I'm in the east bay. Happy to let you try them if you don't find a better option.

For commuting (or when I have a reason to be wearing street clothes under my gear) it's the best thing ever. I don't wear it touring or for day trips though. It's a lot more convenient to defecate at whatever crappy facilities you might find wearing 2-piece gear.

My 40R might be your size. You're welcome to try it--though I can't guarantee I'll be available.

Thanks David, mrc. I'll be PMing you guys soon.

My "commute" is 2.2 miles within SF. I really should just be bicycling it.

Very rarely do I need or want street clothes under my riding pants. The hole I'm trying to fill right now is waterproof protection for non-commute riding (touring, day trips, etc...) I have Frogg Toggs which are cool and all but I'd love to just not have to worry about packing them, putting them on, etc...

I do kinda want to see what all the fuss is about with suits, but maybe I'll just wait 'till the next popup for that.

Why not just go full stich?

Would fit you perfectly! PM me.

Maybe he is like me and anything from stitch is hopeless to size right for my upper body.

Darien pants plus a collection of other jackets for various times of year is a great way to go. Plus no crotch leaks.

I am way up in Richmond, but you would be welcome to try my 34L Dariens, I am a 32x30 in jeans and they are just right as overpants, maybe a little big in the waist but leaves room for layers.

My girlfriend has some 30L regular Dariens you could try as well.

I thought the same when I bought my Darien jacket and AD1 pants.

Now I regret not buying a roadcrafter.

Hank Wong was nice enough to let me try his Darien and Roadcrafters. Damn that RC is cozy. Starting to see the light.

@FreeRyde: thanks! will PM.

@BPW: I appreciate the offer. If I can't find something closer to me I'll hit you up. Good to know the 'stich pants + random jackets scheme works out for you.

@RightCoastBias: Yeah the roadcrafter cocoon was really comfortable and seemed nice to not have to deal with more than one piece of clothing. It does seem a bit less flexible in terms of use, though. Tough call.

Adam,
You're welcome. Per our conversation, Aerostich suits are expensive. Be patient and you will find them used. You won't regret owning one, even if you continue to accumulate other gear. The brighter colors such as red and yellow will fade. Keep that in mind when you select color. The leg ballistics get dirty from road spray and bright color shows dirt more. The RC light is unlined and has lesser ballistics material. While my unlined Darien is holding up fine, I have seen others people's unlined suits get boot damage. Good luck. Gearing up is a good thing, regardless of what gear you select. I love your watercooled R1200R. Makes me want to get one.

My first used 1 piece gave its life for me after about 10 years. Better it than me, even without the EMT cut it was done. Bought a used 2 piece that wasn't used enough to have been washed later that year but prefer the onesie. Got a new R3 when heard they were discontinuing red but of course they still have what looks red to me. Cold blooded so haven't ridden in it yet, guess I have winter and summer suits :)
On long trips I carry a rain suit which also works doubles as a layer when it's f ing cold!
ADV rider and BMWOC ? are good for used gear if you don't find what you want here.

Thanks for that, bikewanker.

I'm cold blooded as well. I can deal with 100 degree central valley heat in unvented black leather but at 55 or so degrees I want to break out the heated gear.

I'm kinda disappointed that there are so many reports of leaking. The thing that got me started on this is that it is a pain in the ass to deal with Froggs Toggs (well that and I need something to wear when my gf rides pillion with my riding pants). Maybe it's just impossible to make fully waterproof gear that is long lasting and can be used with so many riding styles.

I like the red too but I only see it for two-piece suits and for the abrasion areas of the onsies. I think the blue + grey abrasion onsie looks pretty dapper.

Had frogg toggs and they were ok on a Vespa but wet crotch on motorcycle. I just bought some AD1 light pants and they kept me dry during the last rain we had. I've had a darien light jacket for 4 years and it's still keeping me dry.
