I use to "outdoor climb", slab climbing I think it's called. Where you are a two man team, the belayer and you climbing lead setting the "pro". Pretty scarey stuff, but actually I only like to get to the top so I could rappel down.

I've been to "Citybeach", haven't tried the wall, or any indoor set-up for that matter. Looks okay though, safe.

There's a guy here on BARF sn: "climber" that, you guessed it climbs as well. He's done both in and outdoor climbs.

I don't do outdoor stuff, but I go to Touchstone quite a bit. I've been up Mt. Diablo rapelling a couple times, too.

I did some climbing in high school and then quite a bit in college. Being part of a search/rescue team, you kinda were expected to learn the basics. We had guys that would traverse every rock wall they could find, or do races 'hand over hand' from the overhead ledges in the conference rooms.

Personally, I didn't mind an easy ascend from time to time, but I had more fun working the radios.

There's more than a handful of us in the SF moto community that make it to Mission Cliffs pretty regularly, and a number of what I'm guessing are non-barfers as well. Before the SF meets got good again, it was commonplace to see more bikes in front of Mish Cliffs than at the meets.

I've been (outdoor) rock-climbing in Maine as part of Outward Bound. Since then I've only done some bouldering and indoor walls.

Yeah, I climb, mostly indoors, but some out as well. I am new, so I have only been to pinnacles once. I forget what the other place was called.

I have a bunch of friends who are into it too. We climb mainly at Planet Granite, both in Santa Clara and Belmont. Some of my friends climb at a few places in SF, but the names escape me.

I usually climb two nights per week. It's great fun, and good therapy for those of us who are afraid of heights! :teeth

Hmm - used to climb at Planet Granite in Santa Clara. Should try to make it out there again sometime soon.

They are having a Halloween event where they turn off all the lights and you climb with a head lamp. Kinda dorky I suppose, but it does sound like fun.

I'm looking for you SKAG!
I used to be heavily into climbing. I even went to Yosemite and took their " Go Climb A Rock" school. I wasn't great but I could pull 5.10 and 5.11 climbs consistently before my bike accident. With a fractured C1 vertabrae restricting neck movement and a broken right ankle and shattered right wrist I think my climbing days are pretty much over.

Quite the pisser as I still have a new rope I only got to use two or three times.

I was a member at City Beach for 6 months. I was getting good, consistently climbinh 5.12's and a couple of 5.13's. I haven't been there for 8 months but i still have a punch card that has 8 more free climbs.

If you decide to go, let me know, i may be down.

Ha, ha... vaguely remember that! :smoking
I miss climbing in Yosemite, called "it" my 3F's - Freedom, Fun, and Focus

When Planet Granite in Santa Clara was getting ready to open I'd drive over after work and help them bolt holds to the walls. Fun stuff.

One of memorable climb was Royal Arches and I think it was pitch 9 or 10 where you had to do a running "pendulum" to get to the belay bolt. Shit, I'd never done a pendulum and that bolt looked like the size of a dime way out there on that polished face!

Climb with long pitches of run-out, Snake Dike on Half Dome. Not hard, 5.7 stuff, but run-out between some old sketchy rusty bolts.

Speaking of Half Dome, have you read "Shattered Air"? It's a good read.
