anti-motorcyclist morning show

I am sorry- but I might be in the wrong here, but I don't see anything in your clicky's that represent sexually graphic programming, softcore, or hardcore pornography.

I am sorry, but I have a hard time getting as worked up as a lot of these people belonging to groups representing familes, all women, etc. These organizations that get together and try to control what everyone sees, hears, experiences... sorry - I just don't give it credence. I don't know what woody said to get kicked out of St.Louis, but I imagine it didn't have to be much. This is the same crew of morally superior people that shit their pants when janet jackson's tit was on TV for a split second, no? at least like minded?

That is what I mean skeptical of the "extremes"- and that really is the operative word. I honestly just want to know. I doubt woody was out there peddling hardcore porn to kids, so show me how that is fact.

IMO, this shit with the hurting lane splitters blurb is done. I can see some people not letting go, but really- it's fucking done.

Hmmmm... A quick search reveals: CLICKY (FROM 2004)
The target of Cordry's complaints were Jeff Fife and Tony Mott, the afternoon duo known as "Woody & The Whipping Boy." Emmis fired Fife and Mott from KPNT last November for using questionable material on the air and on the station's Web site. Two months later, Emmis rehired them to host afternoons at Q-101. "Emmis Communications knowingly and repeatedly exposed St. Louis children to graphic sexual programming as well as soft and hardcore pornography," Cordry said...

ANOTHER CLICKY (FROM 2004)
Joining Q-101 in afternoons will be the team of Jeff Fife, Tony Mott and Renee Ravey. Fife and Mott previously hosted afternoons at KPNT-FM, the Emmis station in St. Louis, where they called themselves "Woody & the Whipping Boy." Ravey was a part-time jock at Clear Channel Radio's WXDX-FM in Pittsburgh.

Emmis fired Fife and Mott last November for using questionable material on the air and on the station's Web site. Now the same company is promoting them to Chicago.

"They had some problems in St. Louis, but we think you learn from your experiences," said Chuck DuCoty, vice president and general manager of Q-101. "We think these guys are very talented, and I'm very confident they will conduct themselves within the appropriate boundaries. I have no concerns about that."

A THIRD CLICKY (MORE RECENT)
As for Live 105, they'll be going with a "Morning Music Co-op" thing and brought in three DJs-- Jeff Fife, Tony Mott, and Renae Ravey-- to replace Stern. Station Manager Steve DiNardo says those three were hired because "their grassroots experiences have always played on involving their listeners, and we're confident that's just what they'll do on Live 105." And by grassroots and "co-op" he means they were once fired from a St. Louis radio station after offending listeners. This under the radio handle Woody and the Whipping Boy, who were famous for having women masturbate on the radio and having boyfriends paint jack o'lanterns on their girlfriends buts for Halloween.

That was with a few simple searches with search terms obtained from Vashti's post.

This article in Jan 1, 2006 "issue" of SFGate puts a nice spin on the new 105 morning trio, but it really makes me think this all may have been a big publicity stunt, intended to give them a kick start and get us all "invested" in the show. Whether it is "going as planned" or backfired somehow, I think the old addage, "Any publicity is good publicity" may be what is at play here.

OK, finally this is working. I've been trying to log in all day with no luck.....which is why I sent my last post to Dennis (Budman) in the first place.

Not sure when and where I'll be taking the safety course yet....but when I do, you'll know.

I know there are some people here who will never forgive me no matter what I say or do at this point......but what can you do.

For the record.....at this point I've only made ONE really bad comment during all this......which is the initial one on the 12th....as bad as it was, no denial. SINCE then, realizing how stupid that was (I'm not beyond making mistakes obviously) I've given considerable airtime to clarifying that road rage in any form is wrong and that screwing with bikers on the roads is bullshit.

I would hope that if someone is shallow enough to blindly listen to some morning radio DJ making dumb comments for guidance, that the repeated retractions and clarifications would repeal their thought process.......what little there is to begin with.

Like I said, I'm more than happy to continue to help you in your mission to raise awareness of "moto" related issues (ie: lane splitting), and the reasons to appreciate the benefits of bikes on the roads means to us "cagers."

To the people who are still full of piss and venom, unwilling to even let me make good on my promises.......I hope you never make a mistake in your life, because when you do, and you honestly in your heart of hearts regret it, you'll hope that people can find it in them to give you another chance.

Yes, I'm new to California....but so are lots of other people here in the Bay Area. This is a transient city.....many outsiders moving in who aren't aware on the ins and outs of the community and its local laws. I can help you. Live 105 can help you. Honestly, the people at Live 105 are good people, unlike most in this business. They do lots to help the community and give back. They've been serving the Bay Area for MANY MANY years.......don't let one comment, as bad as it was, by one DJ (Me) ruin the good. Let me worry about making this good. Live 105 will support me in whatever it is I want to do.....they're just like that. Not much at this station comes from the top.....one of the reasons I decided to come work here.

One more thing. I saw on another thread about past radio crap that I've been involved with. Is it true? Yeah, some of it....but that's old stuff. Some of the details were inflated to say the least.....but again, another situation I've tried to learn from. That type of radio show died when Janet Jackson whipped out her coco-love mound during the Super Bowl. It's why Howard finally said "enough" and packed up and went to Sirius. I decided to "re-invent" the show. Ravey came on board, and it's different. Obviously it's still a bit edgy. The edge at this point comes from being more Non-PC than anything. No more naked chicks, no more graphic sex talk......ahem. :)

WHAT THEY GOT WRONG:

1) There was no hard-core pornography being given to kids like he/she claimed. We had a PRIVATE site that was run by a fan of the show who was posting uncensored pictures that had age verification software built into it......does that crap really work? Who knows.....but legally, it's on them if they lie and enter false dates of birth.

2) "Soft-core" was in reference to photos from a bikini and wet t-shirt contest we hosted at a sports bar......you'd see the same stuff in Sports Illustrated's Swim Suit Issue. The "porn" label came from the bible beating crusader who probably thinks women showing their belly is pornographic. Idiots.

3) We never advocated the rape or violence of women. Jesus H. They made the argument for that because of a link on our page of a website that sent people to a complete list of definitions for things like a "filthy Sanchez" or Cleveland Steamer. Mature? No. But our target demo at the time was 25 year old men......judging by the ratings, they thought it was funny. But again, taking something and blowing it up to "advocating rape?" C'mon, please. It's called the Rolodex of love.....do a Google, you'll see exactly what I mean.....it's not like we made this stuff up......lol.

So you can see what I mean here. The past is the past, and all I can do is worry about the future. By the way.....I didn't appreciate the one poster who said that I was calling for people to open doors on bikers, take a picture of the carnage, and then send it in for a prize? Holy hell? Who's got a bigger problem, me? or you for even blowing that up like that? What's the matter, the statement as is (joking or not) wasn't extreme enough for you? If that's the case I'm surprised you didn't try to lump kids in there somewhere........my god! :)

OK......I've been typing for a while. If anyone has any other questions, or suggestions (other than you're an asshole Woody, go fuck yourself) you can email me at WTRLive105@aol.com

To the people here who are giving me another shot......I appreciate it. I'll follow through on my word.

To the others.......don't know what else to say.

OH.....and sorry for the form letter....I couldn't figure out how to post on here, and the emails were coming in like mad. I wanted to get back to everyone and figured SOME type of response was better than hearing NOTHING back at all.

........now I'm out....

Take care!

Woody

Sounds good, work with Budman, he is the moto-capo around here, we are all just his henchmen ;)

So, when are you coming out to Benders to hang out? (That was for you Willis).

(BTW, benders is nice, Chupa is even nicer :D )

I'm from Chicago myself, and when I first came out here it freaked me out having bikers whizz past me during my commute.

Then I took the MSF, and it was all downhill after that. The most interesting part, was that being on the bike between lanes, you realize you aren't really blasting by people, it is a combo of them not looking for you, and you being a small noisy vehicle that makes it seem like they are doing warp 9 between cars...

One more thing....sorry, I know I said I was done.

Broad is a bad word now too? Bitch I get, but broad? Is biker chick a no no as well?

I think the fact that Frank Sinatra used the term broad made it cool, acceptable and sexy....if I were a "lady" that would be good enough for me.

Eh..

That is not left coast term.

I hear it when I go back to Chicago, but out here it is going to get you a shot in the nuts from someone.

Thanks Woody (i suffer a beavis reaction to your name everytime i read it) for the explanation and putting the effort into trying to communicate. This is, IMHO, one of the most difficult forums to do that on, far too much bantering, drama and pettiness so do be sure to filter out some of that because it's the usual crap that happens here.

As far as people who are new to CA, there are many many many people who were born and raised here that don't know it's our legal right to lane split. It's not taught in drivers ed. That's something that should change.

Many of us have experienced road rage from drivers who dislike us being able to go by when they can't, it's disturbing and sometimes down right scary. Cars are big, we are small. If it weren't for the fact a sticker wouldn't be readable for cars, I'd have a sticker on my helmet that says, "If you're tired of watching us pass you, get a motorcycle" or something to that nature. I've also considered putting pamphlets on cars re: lanesplitting in CA to help get the info out.

Good luck w/the MSF.

Okay, I'm from Buffalo, but I joined the BARF board to throw out a suggestion.

If I lived in the area, I would mess with Woody by calling into his show initially expressing empathy for his situation. Follow carefully:

"Yeah Woody, I think these bikers are TOTALLY over-reacting. I mean, nobody is really going to take you seriously and intentionally harm one of them just because you made a JOKE about it...

"It would be like me saying on your program, 'The next time somebody sees Woody walking down the street, they should beat him to a bloody pulp.' I'd simply be joking around, and you wouldn't worry that somebody out there is REALLY going to beat the hell out of you, would you? Because I'm TOTALLY kidding around."

He'll end up so scared that he'll spend at least some of his supposedly six-figure income on bodyguards!

I also want to say that Bay Area Riders' Forum is an amazing organization of motorcycle enthusiasts. You guys are really giving a voice to motorcyclists and it benefits us across the country. Congratulations (and thanks) for being such a powerful advocate for our traffic rights.

Ballsy move posting here :teeth.

You're right, there are going to be piss and venom peoples, but they will eventually come around. After all, actions speak louder than words and you are taking care of the ball that's in your court.

I am from chicago, myself. There is quite a bit of PC culture shock, but after awhile, you'll find some aspects of PC crapola you like and adopt and some that are extreme bullshit.

Anyways, hope you get serious about riding. I think you may find it's a great way to get around in the bay area. Especially parking!

take care-

Yeah, but people get pissed off when we stuff things under their wipers as we pass them on the highway.

King of the slab!
I'm happy the way things ended and the fact that it's over. Just come through with what you promise and don't forget about us in a few months (we won't forget about you:teeth ) As far as others that won't let it go, well, some people just aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about
:twofinger

BTW, if I got fired everytime I said something I shouldn't have a work, I would have been fired more times than Valgar's been hit by cars

heh. true nuff'.

Well, the idea I've had that I'd really like to do, is to get decals that would go over the bit that says, "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear", not too intrusive, that say, "Lane splitting is not a crime" or "Look twice, motorcycles are everywhere". Something of that nature.

Generally when I suggest that I get a lot of resistance as if I'm suggesting we take baseball bats to people's cars. I'd rather be riding than trying to behave like an activist which is why these are ideas and not actions. :)

Last summer I got caught in ballpark traffic just east of St Louis on whatever that bridge is that goes over the water. I think Woody told them what he thought of lane-splitters there too! :laughing

Seriously tho Woody, follow through.
