Another Peter Egan masterpiece

Yeah, read that in the (last) paper version of Cycle World. I'm almost tempted to get one of those just for short local trips. Almost.

I can see in a few years getting an e'bike as the article mentions getting the same level of workout but traveling twice the distance.

But I only feel "safe" on paved trails where there are no cars or riding in neighborhoods where traffic is barely moving faster than bicycle pace.

Peter Egan is an absolute god to me and has been for decades.
Each time he retires it breaks my heart. :laughing
Thanks Geoff, for reminding me he is still typing out awesome words and continues to live a life I envy.

I know everyone love Kevin Cameron, but Egan has always been my go to guy.
What they write about doesn't overlap. They're both very good. And I always really liked Ed Hertfelder too, but he didn't make the switch from Cycle to Cycle World way back when Cycle Magazine got killed off. I think he went to Dirt Rider and I had to subscribe to that just to read his column.

I can't think of anybody else writing motorcycle columns that I felt was a must read.

And trying to kill his friend! :laughing

my mother drives a car, but I used to love to pick up Road&Track just so I could get an extra dose of Mr Egan ...

even if he was writing about driving instead of riding. :laughing:ride

He did start out as a foreign car mechanic, after all. :thumbup

Are we having fun yet?
Reading Peter Egan's writing is like eating my favorite ice cream - it goes down super easy, and I could never stop until it's all finished.

Finally I have my last copy, it took two weeks to receive my forwarded mail, sent two day air, USPS.
A +1 on Ed Hertfelder too, his "Did you ever" predates "You might be a redneck", "Here's your sign" with the same kind of stupid, based on enduros.
When he started I was in high school with all my teen angst, mixed with mud. There are no HS cheerleaders on a snotty hillside, nor do HS cheerleaders favor muddy riders.
He put humor into my recreation, brought things into balance.
My dad even wrote his list of "Did you ever".

Been actually planning on completing the Bourbon Trail via motorcycle once all this craziness passes. Probably will start at the north end with a rental.
