Another Comcast Rant

Ratters

Is it summer yet?
Well, about two weeks ago my Comcast internet started crapping out on me slowly. Figuring it was just line issues I let it go till last weekend when it would work for about five minutes before cutting out. Call Comcast customer service, after a minute navigating menus I say I want to talk to someone. Expecting a long wait a phone rings and picks up in a couple seconds. First guy tries stuff, sends me to another that says they can send someone or I can go get a new modem and do it myself. I try the second option.

Go to store, wait about ten minutes for my number to be called, then the person switches mine out in about five. Go home. It's working but really slow. Starts cutting out again. Call again, again answered quickly and make an appointment for two days hence as I couldn't do it the following day.

Guys show up on time, spend an hour finding the problem (issue outside the house), fixing it, and then making sure everything is working well on every Comcast thing I have. Now my internet is flying again.

So, absolutely no complaints. No charge for the service call and I'm getting 30mbs on my wifi in the garage during peak, getting 40+ now that it's later. If I attach the Ethernet cable directly to the modem I'm getting almost 100.

Good job Comcast. :thumbup

I had comcast for awhile. The service itself was eh. The price creep BS was stupid. The shakedown and throttling of Netflix was bullshit.

Their business practices are awful, overall they're a shitty company, and their latest batch of shit is dropping peoples 300GB cap down to 5GB per month for a savings of... $5 -- and then charging 1 dollar per GB in overages. That's an extra $295 for using the same amount of data as before.

I'm sure they won't be predatory at ALL with that deal. :rolleyes

Why would anyone sign up for a $39.99 internet plan that jumps up to $55 after 3 months and $75 after 3 more?

Because they don't tell you.

"hi Sir with one simple change on your account we can save you 5 dollars per month from your bill"

Worst customer service experience ever is Aramark. Week after week they fail to deliver all our uniforms, and week after week customer service, district managers, and corporate promise to do something about it. We're switching to Cintas.

I recently made the switch from DirecTV to Comcast a few weeks ago. I had Comcast a long time ago, but this is the first time I've used the new Xfinity platform. So far, I hate it. Not only is the UI a lot slower than DirecTV, my cable boxes have been buggy as well. There are often times I'm unable to access my On Demand or many of the premium channels I'm subscribed to on one of my boxes, and customer service from the Philippines has been fuckin worthless so far. My biggest issues are with the remote control, for some reason I'm unable to turn the cable box off with the remote, so unless I stand up and walk to my TV, I'm unable to turn the box off, and it's just using up electricity. I also no longer have the ability to control my receivers on either of my televisions, so now I have to use an additional remote to turn the volume up and down and control my receiver, which is a huge crock of shit.

On the plus side, my cable/internet bill dropped by about $60, and I now have all the premium channels AND it's locked for 2 years.
