Gary J: Ride in Peace
SOLD: Alpinestars SuperTech Boots, Black, 42
SOLD
TL;DR - A* SuperTech Boots, Euro 42/American 9.5, really good shape (despite mild fading on white bits), perforated, never crashed.
I think my track days are done, at least for the moment, but these boots will be great for you, whether you ride track or street! They were used at a half-dozen track days and for a number of street rides. I didn't race and neither did the boots. I bought them new, wore them, loved them, treated them well and hope to pass them along to someone who will do the same.
These boots are size Euro 42 (American 9.5) and a touch on the narrow side - you know, for aerodynamics and stuff. For the sake of comparison, I wear size 9.5 Nikes and 42 in dress shoes (Kenneth Cole, Ecco, Allen Edmonds). If you wear size 9, these would probably work with thick socks. In any case, I found them to be perfectly comfortable when on the bike, which is what matters.
The fit, finish and general quality are what you would expect from Alpinestars, one of the most respected brands in motorcycling. Basic black goes with anything and doesn't scream "look at me, cops!" when you're on a street ride, while tasteful white brand logos give some visual interest. As I said, I love the boots, but I'm a bit more comfortable in my Sidi adventure boots when clomping around on an all-day ride. Someone else should get to enjoy these rather than having them just hang out in the garage.
These boots have:
- Perforation for great cooling in the summer heat
- Inner booties with Kevlar strings for amazing ankle protection
- A crap-load of armor
- No crashes!
- A few bug splats because I ride more than I pose
- Removable booties (see above) for easy cleaning
- No funky smells!
- Pristine toe sliders (though we can fix that and impress your friends with a belt-sander)
- Soles with plenty of tread - I didn't hike in them and I like pegs with rubber pads (metal pegs shred boots!)
- A substantial discount off the original retail price (which was about $400, and now they're $500)
$New Price - see below (+$20 for shipping if you can't pick up)
I work in Fairfield and live in Benicia.
The only downside of the boots shows in the aluminum heel caps. They ground down a bit from walking around, but that doesn't affect the fit or function of the boots. You should be able to get replacements from Alpinestars if that's an issue for you.
If you want any more details or pictures of a specific portion of the boots, just let me know.
Ride Safe!
