All hail the Tamale Lady [RIP]

The community formally said goodbye to her last fall but it's nice to see the City at large giving her the props she deserves

The city needs to follow the law

There is probably some law across the country that says only official flags can be flown at City Halls and government buildings too, so I find your contention there to be at odds with a liberal mindset about on-the-ground reality. If you want to get technical, there should be no Pride flags flying anywhere. But its okay to get warm and fuzzy on that detail, but not about the beloved tamale lady? Sheee-yit. Yes, I acknowledge that it's public health, but once again, is SF doing everything it came in the name of public health over the compassion issue regarding homeless and hygiene? I mean, I think London Breed is trying as hard as any mayor before her but there is no brutal adherence to the letter of the law in any way shape or form in most of America's big cities.

We are supposed to always take the time, make the exception, consider the little guy. Only mean-ass REPUBLICANS would insist that the law be followed.

To me, the irony of the same city who tried to shut her down making a big deal of celebrating her, to just be too thick to cut with anything.

Whatever the politics, and I agree the ban against her playing her trade was bullshit, it's still simply good to keep on remembering the people we loved after they're gone. I knew her [relatively] well, my son used to spend weekends at her flat playing with her grandson...I honor her spirit living on
