Aerostich Arrived! (Fitment Questions)

I figure that all of you Sport Touring guys have an Aerostich - so I'll ask y'all...

My aerostich roadcrafter full suit arrived today. I got a 44 long with forward rotated sleeves and a sewn in ellipse. I also opted for the hip armor and back armor.

Sooooo...

I put on the suit and it's really bulky.

1) Is it normal for the suit to feel bulky?
2) Will the bulkiness go away? (I guess I'll eventually not notice...)

It was pretty easy to put on - once I figured out which way the zipper went :)

I went for a test ride and noticed that it felt tight when I leaned to the tank (I ride an R6 and an EX500 - the test ride was on the R6) the suit felt tight through the back. Not super tight - but noticable none-the-less.

3) Will the suit eventually stretch in the back?
4) Did they forget to sew in the ellipse? (How can I tell?)
5) Should I send it back? (They're really nice and kind of expect to go one or even two iterations of alterations for fitment.

On the ride I noticed that the bike felt slippery. I usually wear full leathers - a jacket / pants zip together.

6) So slippery feeling is normal for textile right?
7) Is there a way to get rid of the slipperyness? Some spray or something, right?

Otherwise my fit was perfect - no complaints. The armor went right in and all lines up with me (like the knee pads line up with my knees, etc, etc.) The legs are the right length - and so is the torso (so the crotch is right where it's supposed to be).

Anyhow a big :thumbup to Aerostich.

from my own personal experience with the 2-piece (which may not feel the same as the one piece)
1) yes
2) yes, you'll break in the suit and it'll get more comfortable.
3) stretch? not sure. i've had that tight feeling along the back when i lean forward, but it might be the pants pulling the jacket down?
4) don't know. would assume there'd be something to see (stitching, diff fabric, etc)
5) if you can wait for it, send it back.
6) felt like i was sliding around on my bike the first time. you get used to it.
7) doesn't feel as slippery now that it's broken in. spray something on the seat or the suit? guess so, although i'd say do something to the seat rather than the suit.

love my suit. actually look forward to riding in the rain :)

I will try to help too...

1. Yes, the suit is designed to fit over street clothes.
2. You will adjust to it.
3. It will not "stretch" but it will get more "supple". Like Levi's do after you wash them a few times.
4. Not sure, I have a two piece also...
5. What he said...
6. Yes, it is the fabric treatment. After it has been wet or washed a few times it will slide less.
7. Try cleaning your seat (on the motorcycle) to reduce it's slippreyness. Don't use Armor-All or products like that.

If the suit fits the way that you describe while seated on your motorcycle, then yes, it fits!!!
I have had mine for over 4 years now and think that it is great. When it gets too dirty, just pull the armor, head for those BIG machines at the laundrymat (the front loaders). Follow the washing directions that came with the suit and it comes out just like new (without the stiffness). Ride and enjoy.

Thanks!

So the problem with #5 is:

1 - I'm excited about the suit so I want to wear it right now!
2 - It's going to RAIN!

Thanks again!

More info / advice is welcomed...

When it gets dirty... Don't use regular detergent (Tide etc) to wash it. Go to one of the camping supply stores (REI etc) and get the soap formulated for Gor-Tex. Then treat with Scotch-Guard or equivalent...

1) Is it normal for the suit to feel bulky?
yes, but u get used to it after a while.

2) Will the bulkiness go away? (I guess I'll eventually not notice...)
yes.

It was pretty easy to put on - once I figured out which way the zipper went :)

i don't know if it stretches. but when i first got the stitch, i was about to return it because it felt really snug in the back area. i couldn't lean on the tank that much. but after around two weeks of wearing it, i was able to lean comfortably on the tank now. what's sad is that the only thing causing discomfort leaning on the tank for long periods is my tummy. i'm approaching homer simpson's shape. ack.

4) Did they forget to sew in the ellipse? (How can I tell?)
i dunno, i got a 42short stock.

5) Should I send it back? (They're really nice and kind of expect to go one or even two iterations of alterations for fitment.
try it out for awhile.

On the ride I noticed that the bike felt slippery. I usually wear full leathers - a jacket / pants zip together.

6) So slippery feeling is normal for textile right?
it feels normal for me, not too slippery. i never had leathers.

When I wear my Joe Rocket textile pants I have the same slippery feeling with the tank. After I installed a tank bra this helped me grip the tank better.

BTW Is the forward rotated arms needed for most sport bikes? The bars are not as low as a GSXR but my bike might need the option when I order my suit.
